Do you think a magnet can change the traffic light to green?

Okay, there is an article I read online, saying that traffic lights uses "demand - actuate detector" to detect the incoming and ongoing vehicles. They detector usually bury under the ground before the traffic light. So, if you can manipulate its function, such a magnet to disturb its electromagnetic field. You might instantly got a green light. Do you think that will work?
