Yesterday my brother was working from his house. At 1:30 pm his wife left to go run an errand & he was fine. She asked him to walk their dog while she was gone. She returned around 2:30 & he was still working. She asked him what time he walked the dog so she'd know when to walk it next. He looked at her & said I was supposed to walk the dog? She tried to remind him that when she left that she had asked him to walk the dog. He replied When did you leave? She thought he was kidding her as he forgot to walk the dog. As they continued talking she realized that he didn't remember taking their daughter to camp a few hours earlier & he didn't remember any of the recent events of their day. She called his doctor & she said to get him to the hospital immediately. A battery of tests were done & ruled out bleeding on the brain, stroke several other causes. Late last night, the neurologist treating him told his wife that it had been determined that my brother had Transient Global Amnesia possibly brought on by high blood pressure. Of course I jumped on the web to research it as that is something I have never heard of. One link took me to the Mayo Clinic website where I found some good information. It sounds like a very scary illness that seems to come & go for no reason. The site says once it's gone it usually doesn't come back. That lead me to wonder...If they don't know what brings it on & they don't treat the cause, what is there to stop it from happening again??? So, I've decided to turn to my knowledge base & ask the good people of myLot...Have you ever heard of Transient Global Amnesia??? Do you have personal knowledge of what happens during & after??? Is your knowledge from working in the medical profession or from personal experience??? I'm just trying to prepare myself for what is to come in the next several days so I can stay one step ahead of Dad!!!

Actually, he is he ONLY one NOT having a tough time!!! As of 10:00 pm last night, he didn't remember that he wasn't remembering. His wife is going crazy!!! We're ALL worried about him. Atleast the doctor is giving us hope he will be back to normal soon. We're waiting for the MRI results to verify what the doctor believes is happening. This does have ALL the makings of a movie...a HORROR MOVIE!!!

According to datas I searched online, the most possible cause is a transient lack of blood supply. The second possible cause is some strong emotional factors, such as anxiety or terror. The third is excessive exertion of strength, which cause blood supply trouble in brain vein. So,my suggestion is,donot eat too much fatty food,it is better to be vegetarian, secondly, avoid strong emotional activity, thirdly, donot do heavy work.

I can promise that he didn't over exert himself physically!!! He did recently retire from work & has been a little bit anxious over how he will provide for his family. However, he did seem to be settling into his new life fairly well. His memory has returned & he seems to be doing fine now. His doctor is assuring him that it won't happen again!!!
