Does she think she's human?

I have a kitten from one of the more recent litters. My daughter insisted on keeping her, so I got to name her. After careful thought and watching the kitten play for awhile, I decided to name her Fluffernutter Fluffer, as her name points out, has long, fluffy hair. This is very unusual. None of our other cats have long hair. I think maybe this is why my kid picked this kitten. When my cats have a litter of kittens, I always make sure the bottom drawers in both the bedrooms are cleaned out, except for a few old shirts for mama to make a soft nest. We also have a clear, plastic container they sometimes use. This mama cat decided to keep her babies in my daughter, Van's room. Fluffer was one kitten out of a litter of five. Van't been holding her and loving on her since before her eyes were even open. I know it's not really good for humans to mess with kittens that young very often as it can make them sick. I don't really have to worry about any of our mom cats rejecting babies from people touching them. My family are the only ones that touch them until they are about four weeks old. Since we are her family too, she accepts our smell and continues to care for the litter. Van also gives Fluffer a bath every other week. She is only five weeks old, so she has only given her two baths so far, but the baby kitten really seems to enjoy the warm water. She also must look forward to being swaddled in a towel and rocked to sleep. This kitten will eat like a little piggy in the morning, make in the litter box, and sometimes gets two steps away from it and falls asleep. If she happens to make it out of the bathroom, she jumps up on either my or Savvannah's lap and wants to be held. I've seen Van walk around the house with Fluffernutter in her arms, sleeping away. It actually scared me for a minute the first time I saw her doing this. I could have sworn that kitten was dead, but no, she was only asleep. It was so funny and so cute, Fluffer just flopping around in Van's arm as she walks by. That is what you call a spoiled feline.

Cats are unique creatures. It sounds like your daughter made a new friend. Just be careful in giving cats baths. Its not healthy to do it too often because the skin can dry out too quickly. I hope that kitten is continued to be loved like she appears to be. Kittens are so cute especially the new ones like that.

You've GOT to post a pix of this kitten!!! I kept the only kitten born here, well, actually he was "hatched" at the vet by C-section, but found a new home for his mom. His picture is in my profile along with a picture of Oliver, who we got at a week old. Oliver is the kitten in my avatar... I only have 3 long haired cats, Oliver, Solo and Rio. The rest of the thundering hoard are short haired...
