The Hand Of Suarez

I just have to rile and irk at the headlines of the 19th FIFA World Cup Tournament, coming from the recently concluded match between Uruguay and Ghana - where it reads:
"Luis Suarez handball proves ... oddly heroic?"
"Tabarez: Suarez didn't cheat"
Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan player used his hands blatantly and openly to stop an imminent goal and victory for the Ghana team, has been deemed the hero (unlikely) which eventually had the match turned around and the Uruguay team won.
In soccer, the use of hands is strictly forbidden and when there is even an accidental use or touch in a penalty box by a player other than the goalkeeper it could warrant an immediate sending off.
I do not know what all of you might think or say, but to me a professional footballer like Suarez who blatantly used his hands to stop an imminent goal in such an important and decider match is not only unsportsmanlike but disrespectful to the country, his team and himself.
And, if the media or FIFA or fans or his country could condone and support him then I feel that this game will go down into further disrepute. It will be sending a message to the future that this would be a great way to save one's country by taking the fall to utmost disgrace.
Letting such a player off is like letting a killer walk and I am not exaggerating here. So, if we are still condoning to this and taking this ever so likely, then I would be sad that good gamesmanship has certainly left the mist of us.
Do you agree?

I agree that this was truly horrible behaviour, since it changed the end result in such a dramatic way. I really feel like Ghana was the much stronger team that should have gone through, and that someone who behaves like Luis Suarez is treated like a hero is just wrong in so many ways!

puccagirl,
My exact sentiments here.
This is just disgusting and the only black stigma of the whole tournament. Suarez is a total disgrace to the game and should be dealt with especially from speaking further or audaciously claiming that the "hand of god" belonging to him.
He is utterly wrong, a disgrace to the game of soccer and his profession.
P.S.
Sorry for the late response as I did not have a response alert here.
I only managed to see your response here after checking through my posted posts.

The problem is what is the punishment that FIFA has meted out to Suarez for ending the hopes of a continent by cheating. One match ban!! Do you think that is a deterrent for future players? Now coaches will ask players to stand by the goal mouth in the final moments of the match and concede a handball penalty as a last ditch effort!!
FIFA has to really take these players to task and make it really costly like a life ban or a year or two ban for such intentional hand balls!!
Cheers!
Ram
