I am sitting in office and my boss is doing some personal work. It is already one hour past office time and he is just not getting up. Can I leave? Problem is that I am tied up with him for transport and office is 25 KM from home

well, i thought i'l tell you to go ahead since it's already off your working time but, since your home is 25km away, well, you should have carried extra money so you don't have to lean on your boss to go home, otherwise you have no choice but to stay with him/her. if you're close enough with him and have the guts to asks, then ask him if he'd be staying for long? otherwise, you can either wait or spend your money to go home

Hi mercuryman3a I think you have to tell him that you have to reach home as early as possible because you are having an important work to do at home or you have to go either in a bus or local train by yourself if its a saturday.

I had the same problem with you when I was still working. My boss doesn't leave the office on time, she's busy with a lot of things mostly personal business. At first, I am being respectful to her for not going home on time but eventually I find it not worthy enough to wait for her. So I decided to go home on time, I don't mind if when she's going out in the office. If she thinks I am disrespectful then I let her, anyway I followed the 8 hour work guidelines.

That is probably the worst downside to car pooling. Goodluck!

I think the best thing to do in that situation would be to go ask if there is anything you could help with. by doing so you're letting him know that you're done working for the day.

So your boss has to drive you home? Well you can't really leave unless you catch the bus or train. Maybe you can go in and ask him if he needs any help. Otherwise ask how long he thinks he will be and tell him you're going for a walk to buy some food or a drink!
