I spent a lot of time on Gather this past week.

If you are looking to make money I seriously suggest you try something else. I didn't even make a dollar for all my efforts. I made 36 points. That's right. 36 Points. You need 619 points just to make $10. I was trying to see what would help me make the most money with a decent amount of effort. With a large amount of effort, I was really disappointed. I make most of my money from AC and I was trying to see if something else would work as well. No such luck with Gather. The good news is if you just want to do some backlinking, Gather is a great place to post. I noticed several people using it to get people to go to their sites or articles. What do you like the best in the way of making money?

And in all that time that you spent how many friends did you make and how many people commented on your posts? Do you really think it's all that different from posting here? You know who is earning there because she is in that program.

I made four friends, but I am commenting on all kinds of things and of course those comments are responded to. I guess they do not equal even one point. SO sad. I think she is doing good if she can earn money there. The sad thing is I make more on redgage without even trying. Maybe I should focus next week there. LOL I really don't think I have it in me. Sometimes something hits me to try and I do to see if it will work or not. Gather was a failure for me. LOL I know others are having luck with it.

Hey Canellita and MommaJ, I just wanted to let you know that I still don't have m computer fixed. I got it back yesterday, but there are new problems and I can't connect to the Internet. So I've decided to buy a new one, but it will take time to get that. And then I am still on this one, which is very limited. Hope you both have a good 4th tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with your computer. It's always something. LOL I hope you have a good fourth too. I doubt if I will be awake for it because the fireworks are already starting here.

I cannot say I blame you. I really did not see too much useful information there. Believe it or not I am on mylot because of the info I have gotten from here. I have learned a lot and have been able to explore new ideas. The different cultures are also great. There are so many different ideas.

MommaJ I am sorry that you are disappointed with your experience. When I began at Gather it seemed like MyLot to me except that the place was better in that it gave away a lot of stuff. Did you ever sign up for Gather Giveaways? This weekend they are giving away $50 Target cards. It used to take me about 3 months of posting (not every day, just a couple times a week) to reach payout. But I have won a lot of stuff there...books, gift cards, etc. so that it made it worthwhile for me to stay. The best thing I ever won was $500 in Borders cards from a Borders-Gather contest for commenting on someone's writing. Since then, I have continued to win. This past week, I received a hardback book from entering a Gather contest. I enter them all. Now that I am part of the new program, of course it is a lot more profitable. Even if that ended tomorrow, I would hang around for the contests. No, I don't always win or even win much, maybe once every month or two. It's not a quick way to earn, but neither is MyLot, and I have enjoyed being here. I hope you will stay at Gather, but just do it when you feel like it (like MyLot) and try your luck at some of the contests. They have lots of children's prizes and I never apply for those. I will stop trying to convince you.

LOL. You must feel about Gather the way I feel about AC. It's okay, I understand. I usually do not win anything, but I guess I will try if it's not something too demanding like taking a survey. LOL I hate survey contests or "drawings". I feel like only the people who respond a certain way will even be considered for the drawing. You do win a lot if you win once a month or even every other month. You must be a lucky person. Will you mind rubbing elbows with me. I want some of your luck. LOL

What I don't like is that you follow the link for a survey and it says it starts next Tuesday. Who is going to remember? Or have the time to go back? Only the first 100 or so participants get the points. They should give less points and make it available to more people from this day to this day.

Wow Art, you are such a lucky creature. You seem to win everything wherever you go. I think you better avoid the contest that guarantee you one night stay in Mommaj's cave. It is a pity that Gather is not for international writers. I think I like to go there and poke at Mommaj. Please do not rub elbow with Mommaj. All the hungry ghosts will migrate to your house once you do so. You can knock some senses into the harder-than-rock head of hers.

I would love to tell you it goes faster but it doesn't. Of course, I haven't put much effort into Gather for quite some time. It didn't work out to well for me, but if you are a faithful follower and supporter you might find others to do the same for you.

Mommaj, sorry to hear you're having issues with Gather, it's one of my favorite places to post, earn, and a great deal of support, critique, and encouragement. Look me up there, Ruthi C.! I'm at Associated Content also, Ruth Cox, but I don't put as much effort into it as I should, sad to say. One of these days something will motivate me to do so, hopefully. I guess for me the key ingredient is spending time developing relationships with other writers, networking, and supporting each other in all networks. I seem to do well at that and don't mind supporting you, too.

Oh, thank you. I wish I would have seen your post sooner. I have been out for a while. Even been neglecting AC. Which is unheard of for me. LOL I would be glad to look you up on ac. I am Jane Vee on AC. Feel free to contact me if you like. I would usually say get writing, but since I haven't been I can't say anything to anyone else. LOL
