I read this book not too long ago, and I thought it was pretty awesome. It was a kind of fast read, and I really liked the theme of it. It's about a team of horse and wagon's on their way to California, when they came upon a trickster who suggested they go another route, one of the people who joined their team, but wasn't very trusted warned them against taking the trail, but the travelers took the route anyway. It was as good as promised, but the only problem was the trickster, who showed up later and convinced them to settle in an already counted for land. You find out that the one who had warned them against the route, owned the property that the trickster had well tricked them into settling on and building on. Of course bad came of it, but good in the end. Does this sound like a book you'd like to read?

My granfather was a huge Louis L'Amour fan so along the years I picked up a book of his here and there. My grandfather seemed to have hundreds of these books. I would read it.
