The last airbender really disappointed from my expectation

I don't know what I should expect from this summer movies hot list. I was so disappointed with Iron Man 2; and last night, I watch The Last airbender was a truly disappointment too. I was expecting the movie will be more exciting, and adventurous. But it turns out not so much of everything I just mentioned. It will have a second sequel, but I might not watch it on theater again, as my friend told me too. So, what do you think of this movie?

I heard the same. IGN website reviewed it and over 400 people commented on there saying that m. night shamamamalon ruined the movie. I hope this isnt true because i actually like some of his films not all of them, and maybe those 400 people have all seen the cartoon and expected it to be exactly like that. But they have to make the movie appeal to everyone. So only time will tell

The thing is though, with anything based on anything else you want to appeal MAINLY to your core fanbase. They are the people who really want to see it and would really get behind it. The original series worked for a reason. From what it seems, not only have they completely abandoned what fans wanted, but they made a movie not even the casual audience would care about. So they failed on all fronts.

I've heard nothing, but bad reviews from this film. The comments I heard were that the graphics and fights were great, but the overall story, acting, and casting choices were just awful throughout. I've heard of tons of fans of the series who couldn't even stand to sit through the entire movie. It's gotten bad reviews all around. Basically, word is that you probably won't like it and if you're a fan of the original series you'll probably completely hate it.

I didn't watch the cartoon as the original one. But I watch the entire movie with my friend, he is the one who knew the entire story how it goes. He told me exactly like you say, he hates it. It sucks!

I have been patiently waiting for this film to be shown here in the Philippines. It's sad to know that it's not as good as people expect it to be. Now, I'm having doubts about watching this or not. Looks like our team activity will be canceled. Really sad.

No, I don't like both movies. I think this summer, all the movies weren't up to my expectation. Maybe I already watch too much sci - fi or fantasy movies. They are all about the same to play out.

Just horrible. It was if M night just did not get the entire concept at all. I am not the biggest Manga/Anime fan but even I could tell how they just misunderstood the film. And what was with that interpretive dance? This is no Last Airbender.

I did not watch the original cartoon series, but from a first time viewer, this movie really sucks at the beginning. I did not enjoy watching it. The only thing I can enjoy they got pretty girls in that movie that is all.

Can you tell me some points were in the movie did not satisfy you aside from that it did not turn adventurous, what I mean is that can you be specific to in which part of this story does you loose your momentum and enthusiasm.

it was just too plain. They found this avatar, and they expect this little kid, the chosen one to lead all the clans or nomads to defy the domination of fire nation. It just the same story like every other fantasy stories. How is that? Clear to you?

I was also disappointed in The Last Airbender. I'm a fan of the original cartoon series, and I actually like M. Night Shyamalan... but the movie was much less than I'd hoped. I didn't hate it, and I'm not going to run out and try and lynch someone like most of the fans of the series are seemingly wanting to do. I actually liked parts of it. I thought that the casting was great, and that all the actors (With the exception of Zhao, who I could never believe!) did really well. The action sequences were well-choreographed and pretty exciting. But the script was so badly written, and the editing was even worse. The dialogue was cheesy and often cringe-worthy, and some plot points were handled very badly. Aang doesn't even introduce himself until they reach the Southern Air Temple... something I think should have been nixed the first time the script went through edits. A script that clumsy should have never made it into production. As for the editing, it was extremely choppy and I could tell they'd planned for a much longer movie and then hacked huge sections out of it before throwing it up on the screen. I'm not mad about the changes to the plot or to the pronunciation of the character's names, but they could have been handled much better.
