Google Adsense: Do you Earn if you click adverts on your own page?

I joined Google adsense recently and for the last two months I have been earing $4 and I wanted to be guided how best to maximize my earnings with adsense. Secondly, I write articles and some times I find Google ads on my pages. Do i earn in adsense if I clicked ads on my own page?
