I have been on Facebook for years no and find it an excellent marketing tool. I have created several fan pages for clients and all of them are impressed with the results. Do you market your business on Facebook via pages and why. And if not, why?

Hey, This is something that I have considered doing for my business, but have not done so yet as it's a fairly new business (3-4 months) and the client base is not as good as I would like it to be at the moment. Plus with it being a local business (Approx 10 miles radius) my fear is that it will be a pretty empty group and no one will see it anyway, and will just make the business look bad (The fact that no one is in the group). Perhaps you could provide me with some tips? Many thanks, Lee.

Hi there Thank you for commenting here. If your business is only in a 10 mile radius, you should add as many friends from your area as possible to your Facebook profile. Then when your page is up and running, you invite them to your page. The page is to get more contacts and then pepper them with marketing :-), and you can actually do a competition by giving one of your products to the one who sends the most fans to your page.

Hi, You have some pretty good ideas and I really appreciate them, but the problem is, my only friends are only young (17-19) and the others work in IT themselves so wouldn't really be interested :( Lee.

I would think that facebook would suck for marketing. I barely see any updates even from fan pages like lady gaga. Twitter is so much better but it's harder to get seen if people update all the time... Myspace is just overcrowded with spam. So you got very minimal chaces on social networks to be seen but taking any chances in this tough economy is a good choice

Marketing on Faccebook is an art and should be part of your overall marketing process. I pull blog feeds into my pages, have flash and contact forms. But most of all, the blog feeds work the best. And anything is better than nothing :-)
