Stories usually end in a good note but there are some stories start happily but end in a very bad way or starts off bad and ends bad. What books have you read with these kinds of endings? Can anyone suggest some of these books to me because I have not come across some of them yet.

You are one fortunate dude since you have not encountered one. well talk about books with Bad Endings... First thing that came to my mind is Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol", not sure if we'll have the same opinion but for me, this book really made me think that i wasted my time reading it. I mean really, this is Dan Brown, author of Deception Point, Angels & Demons & DaVinci Code. but this one... Story started out great, built up a lot of hypes & really been creative and all, but the ending? I actually re-read it for a series of times because i might just be missing some details, but really, it was really disappointing. I am not a hater or anything, and I am not by any chance saying that you should not read it, this is just my opinion.

I don't like unhappy endings... but I hate open endings even more. Those are the books that just end without giving you a true resolution. One of those is "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradley. It was a brilliant book... but I couldn't stand it. One of the classics I can think of that ends badly is "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Once again, it was brilliant but I hated it. Personally, I prefer a nice happy ending or at least a resolved and bittersweet ending.

I know what you mean....those endings that are actually open for interpretation kinda bugs me a bit because it really is up to you to decide what really happened. It is a nice twist though...

One book that was bad all the way through was White Oleander. I think the author's name is Janet Fitch. It was depressing and I hated everyone in it and the ending wasn't any better than the rest of it.

I have never had the chance to read books of that kind but I have seen a television drama series that made me so disappointed after religiously spending an hour everyday watching it. I cannot believe I actually patiently followed it for 6 months!! Grrrh!! It was actually a Korean Drama series with subtitle. However, please note that most Korean TV series are good that's why I watched that particular story every night (without fail)- and gosh! for 6 months?!? The ending was a real bummer! What a waste of time!!
