It's Bad Luck to Talk about a Work in Progress

I personally believe this statement. Normally if I'm working on something, I will not tell my family and friends about it unless it is already up and running. It's just like I don't want to preempt them or something. And I simply don't want them to expect more because it will only disappoint them if I was not able to get what i want in the end. The reason that I'm always following this belief is because I tried talking about a work in progress before but it turned out that I was not able to get what I want. I was so disappointed and so are the people that I talked to about it. So from then on, I'm not telling anybody about any unfinished project. How about you? Do you also do the same thing?

Yes, I do not really like talking about things that I am working on until they are finished. You just never know what might happen that cause them not to be finished in a timely manner. Delays happen and thus things do not get as done as soon or even at all. I do not really want to put a lot of faith in myself and people might expect too much out of me. I think about half of the time, projects do not get done. However, if they are discussed and you feel good about their success, voicing this point, then there is less than a chance of getting done. It is just dooming yourself in many ways. Therefore, I do not really like to discuss projects in progress. The moment that they are done, then sure, I'll discuss them all day long. However until that moment, my lips are sealed. Its just as simple as that.

I like you prefer not to talk about it unless it is with a work collegue who is helping me do the project
