Using simple words like "please", "sorry", "love you", "congrats","forgive me","thanks", "you did a good job" can make a lot of difference in life. You can feel the difference when you start using them. Smiling is an added plus point. All these small things that cost nothing for us make a great impact on people and get them close to you. What do you say?

dear anna, I am not very good of expressing my thoughts and emotions by words,i am more on acts. Yah,if i want to say sorry,i do say the word..but when i said i love you,i rather show it to make my loved ones feel the intensity. I seldom say the word without the action. When i asks forgiveness,i can kneel down to beg for it. And when i say thanks,it is always with a smile. (gosh...i am getting emotional...i can feel my heartache)

Indeed, words are very powerful and can establish strong connections between people. However if you say something to a person you have to put love in what you say. Saying something to someone without really meaning won't do any good. A person can tell if what you are telling them comes from inside you or if you just tell them only to create an illusion that you are a good friend to them.

yes, geojb our words should be genuine as you rightly said. honest appreciation and expressing your true feelings with these words can do wonders.

Cant agree with you anymore. If I want to say sth to others, say them from my heart. And this is greatly depending on the person who I am talking to. Concerning the politeness, we should use'sorry','excuse me', 'thanks'etc.. often. Again, If you say sth nice to people, better mean it at the same time but never do that just for giviving everybody a good impression.

It's risky giving compliment with someone else because delivering a word of wisdom is depending on what mood they have for an instance that the reaction of once person is the kind that goes in one ear and over the back of the fence. We're more apt to trust someone who says nice things about its a good feeling.Flattering! but what if they aren't listening and get you face to face a good compliment turns out the other way around the impact on people is not good specially when they dint hear properly so the impact gets bad either ways there is good things and bad things that's the impact of realization.

hi, charmlenile when I appreciate some one I see that it's genuine. I don't believe in simple flattery. It may bring negative results too.

hi! Vijayanths I agree either ways. Nobody in this world is perfect but you know there is a saying that we come to love not finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly is this words matters. The impact of that is just be yourself no matter what. But the compliment is a good things saying it the right way with honesty.

I agree. I teach my children about this to help with this very person to person interaction. I have always been very polite to to others and my children have as well. I say I love you often and smile pretty much every-time I see someone. Many times I find that others are shy from this and wont meet my eyes. That makes me feel uncertain about their motives. Positive praise is often heard in my home and negative is not encouraged. Also just being nice to others by holding a door for someone thats really big with me. Also rating people here that have taken the time to give full feedback is a nice thing as well, I think anyways.

Absolutely! One makes more friends using this kind of language. Good to build people up and give them respect and encouragement. As you say, it costs nothing to speak that way. Make the day more pleasant for everyone. At the end of the day we'll feel a lot better and sleep better too. Thank you for remind us of that.

Hi anna, all these words we all are using frequently depends on the situation. Each and every word has its weight and it will impact a lot on both (to whom you said). Very warm and pleasant atmosphere you can create with these words, and also make that two persons close. People will get a good impression by others with these words, they are very simple but are very emotional words and well mannered words. We must teach our children to use these words. And about smile, it is another great thing, if you smile at some one, you can build a good relationship with all our family members, friends. For working people it is more good to have a smile on their face, it makes others also smile and this smile work on the body positively, away from the tensions, stress etc., Nice post anna.

This is so true. I am thankful that I was raised to be polite and gracious to everyone. I know here in America people take it or leave it when it comes to being polite. I have found in a number of instances it has opened doors for me because someone noticed that I was polite. I am able to approach anybody and start a conversation because I am easy going and pleasant in my address, and enthusiastic about people. Thanks for this discussion subject Vijayanths!

Smile in Sand - Big smile in the sand
You are 100% right on this. I have always believed that if you give someone a smile that they will smile back at you. You never know you could have smiled at someone who was hurting and that smile you gave them let them forget the pain for a thought. Im sending a big smile your way. Hope that it will make you smile back. Have a great day vijay.

you know what really makes great impact??? its the actions...not the words... even for just a look has something to tell... =D
• India
5 Jul 10
It's true that actions only can make great impact. how do actions come? From thoughts. From thoughts words and actions. words are very powerful. A single word can destroy a friendship, a love and so on and this is my opinion. You can have yours of course.

This is very true. Just with simple words, you can make some one happy or perhaps even make a significant difference to everybody. Specially saying it with all your heart and sincerity, these words are short but are too powerful. As they say, great or big things starts from tiny little things that we do, its like a river can't be completed without a drop. Thanks for the topic. Much respect.
