This photo shows my finished deck which I could finally walk on. Normally it takes 3 days of 50 plus temps and dry weather for the stain to set fully. But due to high humidity here it took 6 days until the stain was no longer sticky etc. Now it looks great and repels water after a rain or watering the lawn. Ever stain anything and hated the wait until it was completely dry etc?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Here in NC, it's hot hot hot but also it's been raining so much that it's crazy! But can you believe that after all that rain we've been getting, we're in need of more?! I guess because of the above 90 degree temperatures has caused a lot of it to evaporate but it's still mind boggling. We're getting the rain too, for the next five darned days! I'm so sick of rain that I could scream!.... like that's going to do any good but still, I could just scream!
Hubby did get around to water proofing the deck he built out back but it took a number of tries to get it done because it would rain and then stop and the deck would dry and he'd go to do it and it would rain again. He did finally get it done and prayed that the rain would stop long enough for it to dry and believe it or not, it did. I should write that down on the calender.....

I once stained a shelf/TV stand with a combination stain/laquer. I did it outside in the blazing sun, and not only did it dry in record time, but it gave a professional-looking lacquered finish to essentially chip wood.

hi grandpa bob thats looks really really good, and love that
colorof stain. I was just thinking on my old desk my dad gaveme asd
a kid. I sandpapered everything down to the bare wood stained it a
light oak color thenhad to wait and wait and wait as we hit two days or rain so I believe it took almost a week to set right But it sure looked
great even with all the little dents and depressions from growing up;
with it.My son has now commandeered it until he can get money ahead from his new job so we can get our stuff out of storage and both of us move into a 2 bedroom apartment together then I will probably want my own desk back agaIn.

Looks really nice. We have a swingset that we stained, all except for the ramp (since we ran out of stain). And it is in great shape. All except for the ramp...
