This photo shows one of the many burpless cukes I have growing already. These things are really long. The label says 10 inches but...... Seems this one will be more than 12 inches long when ripe & picked. I have never tried burpless so I am hoping they taste great. I've heard they have the highest water content of all varieties of cukes. I love juicy cukes in my salads etc. What is your fave variety of cucumbers? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Shows how much I know; I wasn't aware there were many different kinds of cucumbers. Why do they call them burpless? I'm assuming it isn't because they cause people to belch less than other varities of cucumbers. Or, IS that why?

Honestly don't pay much attention as we buy the plants from a store. And my hubby did all the picking out of items so I really don't know. But we do have one plant and they are only at about 1 inch big. I'm hoping they don't dry up and keep developing. We had real good luck with them the first year we lived here after that not so much luck. Now can I ask you if yours are just in a mound or do you have yours climbing? And let us know what you think of that variety, if it's good I'll keep my peepers open as I'm not far from you I'm in USDA zone 5.

I am also fond of eating cucumber. I prefer them being paired with salted egg. It is really very delicious. Try them.

hi Grandpa Bob I really do not remember the variety of cucumbers we grew back on the farm. I know we planted cucumbers in our own garden here in Ca but really do not remember the variety. they were very green and fat , and we also grew some that were like Gherkins too . really both were so good as we both loved cucumbers in our salads.

I think this is so beautiful that it is a pity you have to eat it!. I imagine making a boat of it and filling it with ricotta, chives and the inside of the cucumber for apetizers. It´s too beautiful to cut it so you don´t see how it was before company arrives.

That sounds yummy! I think a gal at work made something like that but with zucchini.
