What Is It With Polish? Doesn't Seem To Work Anymore!

As most people know I don't work so am in the house all day. I've been neglecting my cleaning somewhat due to Wimbledon and the World Cup but I decided to give the kitchen a thorough going-over today. It wasn't minging but needed a jolly good wipe and shine..or so I thought! Our worktops are the shiny variety..not granite but is the cheaper stuff that LOOKS like granite, I'm sure you know what I mean. It's dark too so one would think that shining it would be a piece of p*ss lol. Well, it isn't. Used to be but not anymore and the only conclusion I can come up with is that the standard of polish is just..well, PANTS really. At the moment I have Mr Sheen, probably a brand that is well-known throughout the world. It isn't the Original but has an Oriental Scent but is designed to work on ALL surfaces, just like its rival Pledge. I tend to alternate the two when I get bored. Anyway, it took me ages to get rid of the streaks on my worktops. I know a bit of elbow grease doesn't do any harm but I thought these products were supposed to make our lives easier? Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? I did use a clean cloth that I have used in the past and it was fine so it can't be that. I did read somewhere that anything with oranges in is brilliant for cleaning. Question it; where do I get it?

a lot of cleaning products are watered crap anymore..not just polish. murphy's oil soap isn't too bad tho. orange does clean a lot of the uncleanable.if you can get past the awful strong smell.i use it as last resort. um..there's an american product called "orange clean"..they might ship to the UK,you might want to check for that.

Organic products tend to have oranges in them..at a price! So firms associated with strong-smelling stuff such as Unilever and Proctor & Gamble are cottoning on to the fact that, you know what, we're gonna cash in on it too. There is a new product out called Mr Muscle with Febreeze and it's supposed to be ace. I might have a look in Poundland..but I'll make sure it's not imported, some of that stuff can be deadly!!
