I am not a Native English Speaker. I can understand English very well but I just cant sustain a conversation with a native english speaker.I can speak the language but not that good in a conversational level.

Speaking english means you can make simple statements in that language, where as conversing means that you can hold a more complex conversation. The only way to get to this level is to work at it. By being here on my lots and posting discussions you will improve your language skills. The good news is you are probably much further along in your language skills than many. And that you are not alone when it comes to knowing a second language. I know that even after studying spanish for 5 years in school my conversation level is still very basic. I know enough to get me through but find it very difficult if someone starts asking me a bunch of questions.

Thank you for the comment. Mylot is really helping me improve my english skills. I get to read common english terms used in conversations. I tend to use words that are so formal that when I converse in English I often get this comment from people that I have broken english. Sometimes robotic. Don't know how I came up with that one, but that's how I feel it sounds like.

It would sound very robotic and I understand completely what you are getting at. I think the reason you hear it coming out that was is that many people that have conversations in e nglish do not use formal terms, much more slang then in many languages. So when you do speak properly in formal sense it comes out sounding very odd versus the normal everyday english you hear.

speaking is being able to say and utter the words but when you say conversing, there is meaning in what you say. when you converse, you give meaning and information, you communicate...i think your are good.
