I know that all children are diffrent but just wonding what do most 3 years olds know. I actually have a home daycare and have a couple of children around my daughters age but she seems very far ahead of them. I don't say it to brag I don't know what else to do for my daughter, I don't want her to get borred. She know her alphabet, can sing the song, knows all upper case letters by site and most lower case, knows all the letter sounds. Most of that she lerned from a leap frog video. She know her numbers can almost count to 20 usually misses 13 or 14, know number up to 10 by site. She talks very well, most people understand her. She put things together really well. Like the airplane is going to the air port. Things like that. She says big words like chiropractor. I told her my back hurt and she asked if I need to go to the chiropractor. She knows here colors and some shapes. She loves books, no she can't read but she has quite a few books semi memorized. I am not a parent that makes her do flash cards everyday or anything like that. But is there anything that you child enjoys doing that she might too. She likes to color she still scribbles but is starting to fill in objects. I really don't know what else I should do for her I want her to learn but don't want to push her too hard either. I am just wonding if she is like other three year olds or is she a bit advanced. Thanks.

My daughter was the same way at 3. She was very far ahead as your daughter sounds like she is too. My daughter at 4 can count to 60, she can spell her first name, she can spell pool, she also uses big words in a correct manner such as aggravate, unbelievable and interrupt. She can do things most 6 year old's can't do! I have found that with learning she is bored with most of what I do in our Preschool Class because she is so far ahead of the other children. The thing she loves more than anything is Arts and Crafts! This she will never get bored with! =) She is writing her first and last name now. She is doing very well with that. She amazes me every day =) Like I said I do have a Preschool Class and the 3 year old's I have in my class cannot draw a straight line, they don't know their colors or shapes yet and they can barely count to 10. I'm not putting them down I am just giving you examples to show you that your daughter is advanced for her age... =)

Your daughter sounds very similar to the way that my daughter was at three years old and also somewhat like my son is at three right now. My daughter was already past the level of kindergarten when she started kindergarten (she will be in second grade this fall, but at the end of her first grade year she was operating on the level of a late third grader). One of the things that I've always let my children do is to play on the computer. I recommend starfall.com or kidzui for children as they've made a world of difference for my children. I don't really push them, I let them take things at their own pace. Additionally, though it is a couple years down the road, when she is in school, make sure to work closely with her teachers as they are able to recommend great resources for children. If she stays that far ahead, then also make sure that her teachers will recommend her for the primary talent pool as this is a way that children who are advanced are challenged more than can be done in the regular classroom.
