Horror movies. Would you follow the classic plot?

So many horror movies follow a classic plot. A group of teenagers take a holiday to a remote cabin, reputedly haunted house, site of an ancient curse- or even stay on campus. They insult the locals, discover a terrible secret, pour scorn on the curse.
The next thing that you know they are being killed off.
It's part way through the film. So there you are, one of the cast. Ladies, you are in your skimpy night dress. Guys, you are wearing your boxers. Half your friends have been brutally murdered. The electric is out, and the phone is dead. You here a noise downstairs. Are you really going to venture down to the basement/ crypt, alone, in next to nothing with nothing more than a candle for protection?

I've noticed that plotline, too. All the friends always get killed until there's only two or three people left, and you usually get of sense of who those will be in the beginning of the movie.
I have no idea what I'd do if I were in that situation, I'm not the leader type and I a real scaredy cat. w
