Rumor has it that Idol producers are canceling 7 shows from their summer tours because of lackluster ticket sales. Idol summer tours are use to pulling in a lot of fans who wish to see the people they voted for up close and personal. However, after this season's wobbling viewership, I have to wonder if American Idol is losing steam?
Has the powerhouse been knocked down by newer fresher shows?
Does this have anything to do with the musical chairs played by judges?
Or are the idols this season just so boring that nobody cares?

I think it is a factor of all the things you mentioned. I myself has lost interest in American Idol now. Maybe because the novelty is wearing off already after a lot of seasons. Another major factor for me is the contestants themselves. For this season, I found all of them too boring. They are too laid-back.

They were all laid-back, now that you mentioned it. I guess AI needs to get some more dynamic contestants and find another way to bring in viewers or it will continue to lose viewers.

I think the popularity of the show just dropped. I believe this is due to the disappointment the viewers get from the results. I mean, this is my reason because the winners aren't who I expected to win. Of course maybe it's true that the people really voted for that winner I dunno. Hey, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Also, I think it will have a serious drop in its rating now that Simon's gone.

It does seem, especially lately, that the one who should win have come in 2nd or 3rd place. The winners these past few seasons have been frankly forgettable.
You're not the only one who has been questioning the voting process. Makes you wonder.

Personally, I think American Idol is loosing it's lack luster and with Paula first leaving as a Judge, and now Simon I don't think people are into the show now as much. Personally I find this last season a little boring and did not see the Talent of old like in some of the past contestants. Overall, I really think it is time to shake things up and come up with a new and more exciting way to display the New talents out there as well.

I think you are right. If American Idol wants to save itself, it needs to do something exciting and new. Two reasons people usually tune in- Simon and Paula- are going to be no more soon. Need to compensate the viewers with something else. Of course, I'm not sure what will save the show now.
Thanks for responding. Happy mylotting.

I don't know about other viewers, but for me personally, I find watching American Idol in future might not be so interesting after all. If they can come out with another good judge like Simon, with his wit and wacky, sarcastic humor but still be original, I might be hooked once more. But it's going to be hard, as I'm so used to seeing Paula and Simon's faces and grins there.
It's like reminding me that nothing is permanent in this life.. hehe, subdued. However, I'll give A.I a chance and will try to watch, but keep it as interesting as possible. Maybe really talented singer contestants or something. Perhaps the rumor is true after all, or AI is resting* for awhile. Who knows..
