1) This is the first time the African continent has hosted the event.
2) This is the first time the winner have to qualify for the finals.
3) The first time that Spain have qualified for the finals.
4) And of course, there will be a first time winner.
Is there any other first that you have thought of?

I did not get your second point. Winners have been qualifying for quite a number of world cups now. Other points that you missed:
1) First time host country has been ousted in the first round.
2) First time there has been a player strike in the world cup.
3) First time Spain has managed to reach the semis and now finals.
Cheers!

And also, the first time that any of the two powerhouse South American teams bowed out form the quarterfinals. I am talking to Argentina and Brazil.

Errr, how about it being the first time for Brazil to not qualify for the semi-finals. A real shocker, for sure. I think Spain has a good chance to win, although I think Netherlands are strong giants and they will strive to emerge as winner too. Good statistics for both teams and I think the first time, I'm going to witness their matching in the finals. I'm sure they have met before in other matches, but not being together in the finals.

And also the first time Spain will win the World Cup. I do support them and I think they are a superior team from all points of view. As far as the organization of the World Cup is concerned I am annoyed by the noise...
