The Firsts of the World Cup

I did not get your second point. Winners have been qualifying for quite a number of world cups now. Other points that you missed: 1) First time host country has been ousted in the first round. 2) First time there has been a player strike in the world cup. 3) First time Spain has managed to reach the semis and now finals. And also, the first time that any of the two powerhouse South American teams bowed out form the quarterfinals. I am talking to Argentina and Brazil.

None of the past World Cup winners had lost in group stages before. I hope that Spain will be the first World Cup winner who has lost a match during the group stages (lost to Switzerland).

Errr, how about it being the first time for Brazil to not qualify for the semi-finals. A real shocker, for sure. I think Spain has a good chance to win, although I think Netherlands are strong giants and they will strive to emerge as winner too. Good statistics for both teams and I think the first time, I'm going to witness their matching in the finals. I'm sure they have met before in other matches, but not being together in the finals.

And also Spain would win the World Cup for the first time. I am with Spain. All the very best to them, my all wishes are with them.
