Is there a difference between the media that covers PNoy's and that of GMA

PNoy has been in office for more than a week now, and it seems that his cabinet seems to be always at odds with the media. I do not remember this to be the case during GMA. Do you think the media people covering this administration are more rude than that of GMA or were they too scared to act up in front of GMA as she has been known to throw tantrums?
It's one thing to have a strong and opinionated media, but I find that a lot of them have crossed the line. They seem to take it upon themselves to act as lawyer (cross-examining the cabinet member) and judge (passing judgment on the actions of the government).
What do you think? Is the government letting themselves be bullied and dictated upon by media? Do we have a more free media today?

Well here is my analysis of things. I think they are finding it hard to make stories about Pnoy right now except for the same old story about his car not using sirens to go to his appointments and social functions and coming up late because of this. This is becoming boring for the media so they are trying a different angle for this one. Target the cabinet secretaries that are new faces in the government. And so far they are doing well in finding that some of them gets irritated by media's persistence over some issues luring in their respective offices.
Take for example the newly Deped Secretary media has successfully irked in him the issue on S?x Ed issue. The recent victim was Alberto Romulo for being so privilege to stay in office after GMA to Pnoy administration. And the press secretary which is obviosuly trying his best to get along with the press. If they cannot find faults from Pnoy right now then they might as well get it from the people around him and might just get some juicy news that would sell.

If you can't get the head then attack the rest of the body. So you're saying that the media cannot get anything sensational from Pnoy? You're probably right, they are so hungry for sensational news that they will try anything. The thing that bothers me actually is that I have seen several journalists who engage in a debate with the secretaries instead of scooping for news. It's like they're teenagers who are testing their parents' limits. I don't recall this happening with GMA. It was always GMA who would blow her top. Or probably because GMA was such a micromanager that all her people refused to talk to the media.

the press has always been aggressive as they should be. look at the media in the United States, they just show their guts even though they're being thrown away and doesn't even care about the person's privacy. before i believed that media here are a bit more shy and polite in interviewing people but recently i noticed they're imitating journalist from other countries such as in the United States.

@Letranknight: There is a great difference between aggressively running after a scoop and rudely demanding for one. You can run after a story aggressively but politely, so that you also do not an important source. I do not think that they are imitating international media. The media that I have been seeing are rude, not aggressive.

That is my idea also, that the media before were afraid to complain because they were scared of grumpiness of GMA. And they know they will be in lawsuit or they will get killed because GMA is being accused of the media killings. They think that PNOY's presidency is not strict so they became big headed that early to take advantage and say those nasty comments to the Presidents Spokesman. I am not agreeing to this one. I do not like them being bullied like that. They have higher position. Despite the media have a self expression, they have to respect everyone and be patient just in case things will not work out. On the other hand, Edwin Lacierda should keep his cool as it is his job to convey what our president wants to say.

Yes, it is so disappointing that although they are seeing PNoy as a kind president, it seems they are taking advantage.

That is true. PNoy is turning out to be more media savvy that I expected. Or probably GMA's people were just too afraid of the media. Pnoy's people seem to be taking the extra step of doing the exact opposite of what GMA's people did.
The media as you pointed out, thinks that it can bully this government. It is so disappointing since they are suppose to be guardians of freedom.

Nope, our media man are still fond of looking bad or sensational news rather than focusing of facts and news alone, partly the masses are at fault as these type of news sells and give TV high ratings.

I agree that our media focuses on sensational news. They have never been big on facts just insinuations of wrongdoing. My point however, is that the media people now are more confrontational than before. I don't remember any incident where media would answer back to any government official during the GMA administration. A few days ago a Palace reporter told off Lacierda in front of other media people. I think the media were afraid of GMA but not of PNoy.

The media is asserting their roles as interrogators. But this time, they are crossing the line between a good reporter and an abusive scooper. They know very well the new administration is still in shambles. They should have kept that traditional 100 day honeymoon stage. Some of them are already disrespectful. They have no right to pass judgment. As in the case of the Education secretary, he was saying that there was a lot of mental thought processed going on in his mind when he was being interviewed. But what came out of his mouth was something different. He had no clue why he verbalized that. Must be too much lights from the cameramen.

I agree, a few members of the media have become abusive. It seems they are desperate for a scoop and are taking advantage of the newbies in the Cabinet. I believe also that they are not as scared of PNoy as they were of GMA.

Hello advocate,
I believe still that ABS is still siding with Noynoy because they're not putting all the issues there, knowing now that they are not reporting everything, most specially when it comes to against Noynoy. i remember about news on gma when she became president and it was more issues about cheating, killings, hell garci and others. as for noy, it's very limited and not much of a bad news at all
I prefer Media dictating rather than taking sides of another politician. at least they are vigilant and aggressive in the issue.@TheAdvocate (2392)

I beg to disagree. The media is not suppose to dictate the news. They should report it as it is and not put a personal spin on it. If you allow them to dictate the news, then that is not news anymore. That is an opinion and there are people for that.

The media in the Philippines loves to shout about the freedom of the press and stuff but they don't know their limitations or when it is proper to shut their mouths. They don't realize that this is a new administration they are still in their adjustment period. Sometimes the media is such a pain in the @ss

The media is not really big on policing itself. Sometimes they can be so self-righteous not realizing that the footages they are showing puts them in a bad light.
