Have you had a bad experience being a guarantor?

First of all I would like to define what a guarantor is. Some lending companies or individuals would require a guarantor when they lend money to someone. To make sure that debt is paid in full on time, a guarantor is required just in case the borrower runs away or is not able to pay on time. And so I once committed in becoming the guarantor of my co-worker who borrowed money from one of the managers in our office. Apparently this borrower got terminated. I had no choice but to pay the remaining amount. Mind you, what was left was not just a small amount. I was so upset and irritated that time because of what he did, not even bothered to pay his loan despite him leaving the company. I didn't tell my husband about it because he will surely get mad at me. Well, he almost did know( yikes!). Meanwhile, I learned my lesson. I will never become a guarantor again in the future. So guys I hope you learned a lesson from me.

Hello, I have not any bad experience so far being as a guarantor because I properly choose who among my friends I can engaged to any borrowing transactions. So far no one left any unpaid accounts or debt from my guarantees.I make sure that each borrower should deposit a respective collateral in such way no one will run for unpaid accounts.

I think being a guarantor is bad when the borrower runs away and people who become a guarantor should take care for whom they become a guarantor,.and i never been a guarantor through out my life.
