For the Bible readers around here I'd like your opinion on Genesis Chapter 6 and verses 1 to 4. I always quote the King James Version as that's what I cut my teeth on, and the one I still read. Anyone who isn't a student of the Bible you can read it online. I'm sure people who have asked their pastor or priest already have the church's answer but I'd like everyone to give some thought to this themselves. Looking forward to your comments.

I to prefer to read the King James version of the bible. The Sons of God are the people that followed god's laws and worshiped Him before and after the flood. The sons of man had gotten away from following and worshiping God.

khad Not necessarily a pious person can show or express reverence for any deity be it animal or statue. The sons of God worshiped and lived according to God's laws. By the way the ten commandments were around long before they were written down on stone and given to Moses. Pose. My guess would be that those daughters were what used to be called loose and dressed very provocative to entice the sons of God. That was the way Samson was tempted by the philistine woman Delilah.

Hi deebomb, Thanks for that interpretation. I'd never heard of it before but I wonder why those who followed God's laws would want to intermingle with those who had gotten away from worshipping God? If that is correct it's too bad that wasn't made clear. Blessings.

Those Sons of God were also referred to by Jesus throughout the gospels, "Only the Sons of God...", etc, etc. From the same Holy Bible you're reading, it sounds like these men were indeed great; far above men we see today. I tell you true: these men were Saints. They were born as we are, but studied diligently under enlightened masters of old, took their Baptism from him (not like Baptisms we see today, but directly & without any contact from the Light & Word of God), & were transformed, either instantly or on a gradual basis after practicing diligently for a long time. The Bible verses we've read do not go into any detail about their levels of attainment or how successful their practice was, but we can see by these verses that these men were truly great in many respects. More details about this can be found by reading ancient works like The Book of Treasures which I'm sure will fascinate a good student of the Bible like yourself. There were many, many more prophets in OT times than could be mentioned in the Bible. Good question. I'm interested to know the Church's response.

Hi veganbliss, Thanks for your response and I agree that there are many more books. I haven't read The Book of Treasures, thanks too for mentioning it. Blessings.

Sorry, my mistake... you'll never find it! I'm not sure what it's called, exactly, but it's a huge book or collection of works about the Cave of Treasures where Adam & eve lived with their children & much else that happened since then. I guarantee you will find it interesting at least & possibly enlightening. You can download it for free from sacred-texts, under Christianity. You will find there many other books of great interest, that perhaps the Church is not overly keen on us reading. It's interesting because my local minister doesn't forbid it, just saying "all you really need is in the Bible, so no need to read anything else". The Bible tells us there are many other great works that Jesus did that are not recorded here, which I suppose could not fill all the books ever written... something like that. I can't recall exactly where it is, but can find it for you if you wish.

Hello Pose, I have never asked a pastor or priest or anyone else, I always read the Bible for myself, despite the fact that the Bible is not the Book of my Faith as a Muslim, the Book of my faith is the Holy Quran and since the Quran refers to other previous books, the Torah was given to Moses, the Psalms were given to David, and the Gospel was given to Jesus (Peace Be Upon Them all) these Holy books were described in the Holy Quran as Books of guidance and Light, but at the same time the Holy Quran refers to the fact that those previous Books were corrupted by the Hand of wrong doers for their own benefit to gain money and power by fooling their blind followers. The term son of God as far as I understand refers to a Loyal servant of God, the term son of God was mentioned many times in the Bible both the Old and the new testaments and it simply means a loyal servant of God as the Jews understood it, no one of the Jews (to whom Jesus spoke) believe the God have a son, "son of God" in the language of the Jews was a very innocent term used to describe a loyal servant of God. Whether the translators and editors chose to write it as "Son of God" (with a capital S) in reference to Jesus and "son of God" (with a small S) in reference to everyone else does not diminish the fact that in the original language, both cases are exactly the same. John 20:17 KJV Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. it is not some thing by birth but any one can choose to be a son of God If He/she Like. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God... as for the sons of God mentioned in Genesis Chapter 6 I think that it refers to the children of Israel because they were under the Law of God brought to them By Moses in the Torah, the Daughters of men refers to the daughters of Gentiles and the son of man describe any human being. best regards!

Hi Goraano, It's good to see that you are student of the Bible as well as the Quran.I commend you on your knowledge of the holy scripture and the fact that you read and interpret for yourself. Thank you for your comment and I had forgotten about the quote from John 1: 12. You are good. Blessings.

hello gordano i think your first part is correct but in your last part , you wrote , sons of god are children of Israel ! you mean to say children of Israel was there in the time of noah but as per quran children of isreal are the children of jacob( verse 2 -132 and in lot of verses ) so they came long after noah further if we take from john 10:33 , where Jews alleges Jesus claimed himself god being a human jesus explains them in john 10:34-36 , he is son of god in context with genesis 6 :1-4 and psalm 82:6 in other words , he denies claiming to be god and confirms himself as prophet now , point to be noted here is Jews don't even take him as there prophet Christians think he is god. if this is true then ,he lied in john 10 because , he says very clearly he is not god but a prophet now , once again ,take john 10 :27 only Muslims believe him as prophet so it very clear that neither Christians nor Jews are his sheep ONLY MUSLIMS ARE HIS SHEEP BECAUSE WE FOLLOW HIM AND TAKE HIM AS ONE OF OUR MIGHTIEST PROPHET
