Should internet gambling be legal??

A few years ago... there were a lot of booming poker sites such as Absolute Poker, Ultimate Bet, Full Tilt Poker and many others. There were just as many portals available for casino games and blackjack. A lot of these companies were banned from promoting online gambling. There are different laws varying from state to state about online gambling, but the inevitable remains the same, it is looked down upon. This is mainly due to money laundering and the fact that anonymous encryptions can be used so that the money isn't traceable.
Interesting fact: In 2004, major search engine sites such as Yahoo! and Google declared that they would stop advertising online gambling sites on their sites.
I don't view internet gambling as a problem as me and my husband made lots of money just playing a game that we love. We invested our money honestly to have it doubled for the deposit bonus that the site was offered. We played our money honestly and withdrew at our convenience. It's so unfair when some people abuse certain luxuries and it messes it up for everyone. I can definitely say that playing cards online for money was the easier thing I've ever done.. even easier than most of what I'm doing now. What are your views??

It should remain legal because you are not doing it on the actually state for say, you are doing it on the internet. Which is sort of a difference in my opinion. The internet is a virtual world, so you are gambling virtually, not outside of your computer, so it should not be illegal. But, there is an issue with online gambling. It's called you are a minor and you are saying that you are over the age of 18 or 21. This happens with adult content on the internet also. Should it be illegal? Well it can't because they do have warnings, but minors still manage to get their ways into those sites just by saying they are 18 or 21. That is really the only issue I find with gambling sites because a 13 year old could just take their parent's credit card without them noticing and then lose it all online playing poker. Gambling online shouldn't be illegal, but they should have a much better verification system so that they don't have minors coming into their sites.

Wow, that's very sad that children that age would damage their parent's financial necessities without a second thought. You're right... there definitely should be better verification so that people can't use other people's credit cards.

I agree with you, Jen. If that is someone's hard earned money, they should be able to spend it in whatever way they want to spend it!!

Hi,
Gambling has been a form of entertainment for long. And true indeed, there are a few lessons that you can always learn from gambling. Everything in our life is based on the probability, that is, on the game of chance. For every single decision we make, we leave the major portion of the consequence as a matter of chance. Gambling makes us aware of this extremely true aspect of life. But gambling can be addictive. It gives rise to false hope and infuses avarice. I don't think that banning gambling is necessary at all. But the number of gambling attempts made by an individual within a specific duration should be restricted. Gambling should only be viewed as a mere game and not any serious way to earn money. Thanks.
God bless you

I agree with you here. Gambling shouldn't be a source of income at all... but rather a sport or hobby.. something that you enjoy. Which I always have. I still play from time to time.. but poker's only fun when you're betting!!
