Has your child ever worn any of your old baby, or toddler clothing?

My three year old daughter has on an dress that I used to wear as a child. It is made for an 2 to 4 year old little girl. It is very pretty. It is a light pink floral sundress. It has two long satin ribbons on it. It is softly ruffled at the bottom. It is such a pretty dress. Some years back, my grandmother passed on this dress to me. She told me that I used to wear this dress when I was smaller. I have kept this dress for a very long time now. I think that I have had this dress for 7 years now. I finally decided to let my daughter wear it. I did not let my oldest daughter wear it, because I kind of forgot it being packed down. But my baby has it on right now. She looks so adorable in it. I also have decided to let her wear this in honor of her deceased grandmother. This month was her grandmother's 53rd birthday. I wanted to see my mother's Birthday cherished. I love seeing my daughter in my dress. It is a cute summer dress. I know that my mom loved ribbons. She used to fix me and sister's hair in ribbons all of the time. She loved using the fuzzy ribbons. This dress reminded me of our hair ribbons, except the ribbons on the dress was made from an satin material. I am pretty sure that my mom bought this dress for me when I was younger. She enjoyed letting us wear dresses that were very pretty. Has your child ever worn any of your baby clothing from many years ago?

hi cream I bet she is adorable in that pretty summery dress. I had no things of my own to give my children when they were babies but my coworker at st lukes gave me a whole slew of the prettiest handmade'baby clothes for my son when he was born and 11months later I used a lot of them for mysecond born a girl. sadly Cream we lost our sweet Lisa Rose when she was eight. She was brain damaged at birth but she was the most adoreable sweet child always wanting to be loved, and she did not look like she had a birth defect either, and in a lot of ways she was really quite bright. But in some basics like potty training it was almost impossible she tried and we tried but it p;artly a failure. I was told she would stay at about age six mentally if she lived to grow up. she was frail in some ways.but those baby clothes were the prettiest things and mycoworker had used them for her own babies who were now in their twenties. it seem incredible to me that my son is now 51.wow. oh by the way did I tell you my son got a job two weeks ago. we are both elated.

Hi, Hatley. I am so so very sorry about your little girl. I really am. I know that you loved her dearly. I am very happy to hear about your son finding a job!! Does this mean that pretty soon you will be able to move from out the retirement home and into a new home just for the two of you? I know how you have been talking about this for a very long time. I wish you both all of the success, love and happiness! Tell your son that I said Congratulations!

I have no kids yet and unmarried. I remember when I was a child, I have worn clothes from my older sister and other cousins. I have lots of hand me down clothes and as I grew older, my clothes were also handed down to my cousins. I did not feel bad about it because they are still look nice and no damage. Same thing with my nephews. The old ones hand down their clothes to the younger ones.

No but I wish I had some things like that from when I was a baby. It would be neat to pass it on to mu children.

Awwww . . . that's really neat! Are you going to save that dress for your daughter to pass on as well? We recently went to a Japanese Obon festival, and my daughter wore a yukata that I used to wear. A yukata is a summer kimono made of a lightweight material. It was actually too small for her, but that's all we had at a moments notice. She actually wore it for Halloween for the first time a couple years ago - back then it was too big!! But we put leggings underneath to make up for the bottom - and the sash that goes around the waist was just fine (I think a one size fits all deal). She got to dance in it at the festival - so it worked out. Now, kimonos or yukatas aren't something we wear regularly . . . but it was nice to see my daughter look "festive" in her authentic costume that I used to wear as a kid (for the same festival at the same place!).

I think that´s pretty cute, but I have no children just yet. But I will maybe, if I have some left at that time, let my kids wear some of my clothes if they want. I wont force them, that´s for sure ^^ M.S.A

I have a nephew, and I really really wish he could have used the clothes I wore before. I think he would look cute since all of my clothes when I was a kid are cute and would fit him perfectly. Sadly, I don't have them anymore. My mom has this knack of giving away used clothes to our rather unfortunate friends or relatives. I don't regret it though. I would always want to help. It's just that, like your experience, it might have been cute and nostalgic if your son (nephew in my case) could wear your clothes.

My God daughter when she was a baby - She's almost 15 years old now.
I don't have any kids however, I do have three God kids whom I adore as if they were my own. The oldest has worn my Christening gown when she was baptized when she was just a baby. I've included a picture for you to see, if you'd like. I was her age when I wore the gown and it was such an honor to have her wear it too.

No...I wish I still had some of my old clothing. The only thing that my mom still has clothing wise of mine would be the hospital onesie that I came home in. I am not sure if my daughter would wear anything that used to be mine or not. There is a beautiful Christmas dress that she has that I told her we should keep for when she has kids which is years away because she is only 9 but I still like the idea of hanging on to it until then.
