I am sure that most of you have been asked about your hobbies many times. My question is a little different.
I build model aircraft, to be precise 1/72 scale WWII Italian aircraft (picture is one of my models). Probably not many of us here, but if you do, where do you get your kits, as many are out of production?
Most of mine are bought from ebay or specialist suppliers, and they are becoming pricey. I'd like to know of other sources.

Hi Memnon, Great plane, but yes I agree they are becoming very pricey. I think the last one I got was from Ebay too but we are lucky here in that we have a model shop in Exmouth that specialises and the prices don't seem that expensive. I would do an online search. I don't know whether or not you go to Airshows but you can usually pick some really good ones up at these events. No just remembered it wasn't Ebay I bought from last it was in fact M&S I managed to get a Spifire plane as a Christmas present on a 3 for 2 offer, it was originaly £20 but they way I worked it it cost £7.50 so worth taking a look there. I can't remember the scale of the model but it was a good one because the person I was buying for was ex RAF and an avid model maker and had checked what they had and didn't have first. Huggles. Somehow I never picked up this reply until I went looking today. That must be the notification issue.I have a good few on line outlets, but they know that what I seek is getting rarer. I saw the M&S kit at Christmas too. I am in Bournemouth, and we now have a yearly air show- I can actually sit on our roof and see most of it. Better at the front though. I nearly started talking anorak there!
If you and yours ever visit, we have a spare parking space- save you £££ parking in town or near the front.

Likewise, we have one each year in a nearby town and The Red Arrows, the Typhoon, Vulcan and many other display, it is all free and a great day out. Thats for the offer of parking, I know that can be horrendous, what they do here is a park and ride from a field a couple of miles away and then free bus services to and from as town is shut for traffic. Dawlish Air Show if you want to check it out, now who is sounding the anorak lol, the railway line runs along the see front there so I could do both!!!

I'm familiar with Dawlish. A while since I have been there. As a kid we would take the Weymouth boat train to the Channel Islands too. No more train, but the tracks are still there. I lived in Weymouth for 10 years, and savaged several bike tyres on that track. I digress. More anorak stuff- the Lancaster's turn around flight path takes it over our house. This year I have asked a neighbour if I can set up camera on his garage roof so that I can capture it. I have one good picture, but the house is not in there.

I have quite a few dolls houses which are scaled in 1/12, some i bought as kits from a specialist dolls house maker called Sid Cook & some i have either done myself or bullied the husband in to making for me using plans. There are a lot of dolls house collectors around, with shops in main towns & fairs.

I am not knowlegdgeable about the aircraft toys but all I can say this is really fantastic hobby that you can be proud of... This is also very seldom for an individual having opportunity to collect such expensive items (as we can notice people buying aircraft toys in the toy store is not easy, you have to find the at the reasonable price, durability, best and appearance perhaps). I think you have to devout your time more on researching as many online toy stores so you can have as many choices as you wish for... before buying. Good hobby buddy!
