The Burning of Lebron James Jersey

United States

I felt that it was very childish for them to burn Lebron James jersey, especially after he spent the past 7 years with that particular team. I don't see a thing wrong with the decision that Lebron James made. He chose to win (the winning team) over money. YAY LEBRON!!! How do you guys feel?? I know some people are PISSED!!! They burned the man's jersey for heaven's sake!!

I agree with the childish part of them buring the guy jersey. But if you really think about it, he let the entire Cavs fans down!! Lebron was bascially being selfish. For that, he WILL NEVER be a Kobe, Magic Jonhson, Michael Jordan, or Tim Duncan because he GAVE UP on his team before he could actually take them to win a championship. Smh, he is selfish, and I thought he was all about competition. I guess not!!

How is he being selfish by going after his dream?? Wouldn't you do the same?? He stayed with one team for seven years trying towards it.. hell, the man will be old as hell before he gets where he really wants to be. I look at it as a selfless act. He chose winning over the money!! Thanks for your comment!!

I still feel that at the end of the day.. he made not only a smart business move, but he will sleep easier at night knowing that he tried. I don't feel like he gave up on them at all, 7 years is more of a chance than I would've tried. I feel like they let HIM down so to speak.. if you're claiming that he was more at the top of the team than he will be now, that may very well be true. But, if you're fighting towards a victory and your team mates aren't either on the same level or possible mindstate as you... it's time to move on... and that's what he DID!!!

Since you asked me a question I will answer! Do you actually keep you w/ sports, or you just heard Lebron will be playing w/ Miami?? I can honestly say (and I got this opinion from epsn news spokesmen themselves" that people feel he's being selfish for GIVING UP ON HIS TEAM!!! I mean really?? And yes its being selfish, and no I wouldn't do the same. I would stick w/ my team AND TAKE THEM TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP BECAUSE (SPEAKING LIKE IM LEBRON) I'M JUST THAT GOOD!!! I guess he's really not. Now he's going to a team where he's not even the team leader. Miami Heat is STILL Dwyane Wade Team..Dwyane Wade had a chance to get traded like LEBRON DID!! BUT DWYANE TURNED THAT DOWN AND choose to be w/ his team. And guess what, he LEAD THEM TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP!! BECAUSE he did what?? Stayed w/ him team and didn't give up on them...unlike Lebron!! Have a nice day!! :)

Its expected from the Cavs fans. It think they were hurt by the recent developments. The arrival of Lebron James put the Cleveland on the map in the sport of basketball. With his departure comes the dismay of the Cavs fans. Lebron wanted the title badly, so he chose a team that have a high chance of winning a title. And this is in Miami.

I totallly agree with your comment.Lebron James was Cavs best superstar that they ever had. It's normal for the fans to be angry to him but i think that they have to support him for everything he had done for Cleveland.

Yes, I agree and that may very well be true... but true Lebron James fans will not deter from him no matter which team he decides to be on. They will be there to the end. I understand the Cavs concern for the future of the team... but HE is doing it, not them and he has to focus on HIS life's dream and what's best for him. Thanks for your comment!!

It is really childish that they reached to that point of burning jerseys, t-shirts and whatnots. Even though he played 7 years there, can a man decide whats best for him by moving out instead? Being pissed is natural for a fan being left by his/her hometown hero.. Basketball is a sport but we have to consider that its still a business. Players make money and so as team owners, etc.. Dan Gilbert need not to curse LeBron for leaving. that just shows what a sore loser he is. talk about professionalism, he so has not.

It's not the first time something like that has happened. I can understand why some of the fans in Cleveland are disappointed since LeBron is their pride and joy but you can't really blame the guy for his choice. He wants to win a title too and it didn't look like it was going to happen in Cleveland so he had to move on to another team. It'll take a while for the people in Cleveland but they'll eventually get over it.

Yes, basketball stars come and they go... the same teams can't be on top or on the bottom all the time. That is the way of the game... and the way of life. Thanks for your comment!!

I am a Chinese basketball fun,in my opinion, though I know only a little about the culture of your country,I know that NBA is not only a game,it's business. For player, maybe what they want are honour and money, but for the boss ,maybe only the money

NBA Basketball is very interesting and a lot of fans are caught up into the mix. There are a lot of sports-crazed people here and I'm not one of them... but I do know a sensible business move when I see one and Lebron James did what was best for him. His former coach and former fans handled it very immaturely. Instead of just being appreciative for what he HAS done over the past 7 years, they basically shunned him and turned their back on him. That is not what sports is about... if basketball doesn't interest you.. check out some other sports. Thanks for commenting!!

Its very childish. I know that Cleveland fans are super disappointed and that Dan Gilbert is going to be forever known as the man who let Lebron get away but in reality it was going to happen. The had seven years to win a title and the just couldn't get it done. Ya can not really blame the man. http://cheapdslrprofessional.blogspot.com/

I definitely agree. The man has to do what's best for him and I felt like he was very loyal to his team. It was just time to move on! Thanks for your comment!!

I think the fans are more hurt over how Lebron communicated the news. It was a huge embarassment to the city and the fans. The news was going to hurt regardless and then Lebron made it a public humiliation.
