We want to learn history because to know what had happened in the past and to remain as history by generation to generation. To know about the human life how it came from four father and how we survive before ancient time.To know how how other countries are happening and how they got their countries independent from others. To know the reason why the fought in first world war, second world war and third world war.We learn history because to maintain our culture and tradition which is remain by our parents.

So you will get an understanding of your country's laws, calamities, threat to your kind, and why some things are the way they are. Why do you follow laws? its because there is a reason behind it and that reason is history. How does your country prepare for emergencies? they prepare using history of these emergencies that occurred before so they will know how to prevent many of these things and respond to them with almost the appropriate equipments. There are threats to your country before and you don't want them to happen so what will you do? You learn from the past and avoid things that your country did so bad things wont happen as likely. Your country's traditions are most likely historical and you don't even know what you are celebrating and you end up asking for reasons and the answers you will find are most likely to be history

I never was very good at history myself. However, we must learn about our past if for no other reason than to not repeat it. We can learn things to change and things to keep from what has happened before.

The way history is being taught really affects the students' view of the subject. Haha. Actually, I share your sentiments when I was in highschool. I also can't find the reason why they have to teach that in school. However, my professor in college changed my opinion about history. He taught us that History is not just about knowing what happened when, and who did what. He asked us, how can you appreciate what you have when you don't know how you acquired it? True, finding out how you or anybody acquired something isn't exactly interesting right? We could say that because we already have that something. Our cellphones for example, if our parents gave it to us, would you even bother asking how they got the money to buy it. Of course we would think that they have work right? Or they have a business. They easily got the money. But have we bothered asking them what they went through to get the money or to start the business just to provide us our necessities and luxuries. While our professor asked us this questions, I was like, Ok, someone's sourgraping here. lol. But when I got home and I pondered the things he said, it all made sense. Now, though I still despise history, I learned how to appreciate it more. I hope my explanation helped you somehow. =)
