Hello Lotters,
I didn't get a chance to tell you this the other night but i have watch this in the news lately.
Catholic church in my country had finally decided to go phase with the times in terms of media and technology by creating a Role Playing Game.
But it's not just any Role playing game, it also asked questions about the Sacraments of the Church and ones you have answered the right question you go to the next level. this was shown two nights ago, and it's now being spread through out the entire sect.
although the marketing of this Christian Video game is bit low for now, but the parent who witness it said this is a lot better than playing games with violence, through this people will have a thought about Jesus and God and probably get back into reading the Bible. there's nothing Better than Praying or Reading the Bible, just make sure you do the "Practical Application" of being a Christian and not the other way around.

Interesting concept I guess the trend now points that even the church is considering video games as a very influential tool to encourage many from getting interested with religious teaching. I think in Education they are applying this since they found children react more and learn more by doing this video games than what a book can provide since it is primarily interactive.

yeah, rsa, they made a video game.
for now i see it as Playstation compatible
i hope it comes available in any other game console. not to mention to have it in the PC or laptops. one thing for sure, you can never make a cheat on this game, it's just quite simple.@LetranKnight25 (33117)

hi letran I am not a Catholic but I am a Christian and belong to the Methodist church. I try to practice the things I was taught as a child'
and treat others as I would like to be treated. I also think a Christian is one who actually practices what is being preached. Caring for others, having compassion, being willing to help others, the practical application of all we were taught.

hello hatley,
as long as you're a Christian. i believed methodist church has a unique way of spreading the word of god. it's just most catholics hit the pillows
when ever the same old thing is spread, not every priest preaches as enthusiastic like the others. i hope other christians are doing this. how come those guys in the US haven't done this sort of thing, you should get phased with times, connect with youngster with the use of technology. i hope this game is free

I don't know why but reading your comment made me think of my philosophy teacher in college who made the remark that some teachers teach for twenty years and other teachers teach the same one years for twenty years. In other words some teachers teach and keep up with the times each year while others teach the same material for twenty years. and here in the US I have gone to church where the sermon sounds the same every Sunday and I ended up falling asleep. And have listened to a guest minister who kept me awake through out the sermon,so keeping up with the modern world would sure help in Religion and yes Ihope the game is free too.

video games are gaining more and more acceptance as a mainstream source whether it be religion which the catholic church is doing by being involved in the development of this game or other sources as a whole. it wasn't like that when i was younger as a video game fan. many gaming fans are adults now and not just mainly kids like when i was younger which gives video games more acceptance. also this sounds like it might be a desperation to get attention by the catholic church after losing so many followers due to the priest abuse scandals.

the problem of preachers abuse is already a common problem to all churches in the world not just in this country. that's why some are just getting bored or leaving the catholic church. but i hope in this video game, people would go back to the fold of christianity even with out the help of the priest. as i re call the movie "the passion of christ" led to the confession of thousands of teenagers.

I don't think that the Church must be involved in marketing niche, because God, theology and also faith is something spiritual and far from economy and marketing, which is made only to get more money...and money can be for reason for most sinful works which human can make.
From other side, the Church do right according to its mission - it must to remind to people about God, and so this is great example for doing so. Also with this game they can try to force out those games which leave negative effect on children and teenagers. If their game will have some fresh novelty then it could be great step from their side to make world more peaceful and better.

I don't think they made this in order to earn money. it's clear that their intention is to reach the youth, if they are trying to make a living that's because they also NEED funding for the charities and seminarians who are studying for priesthood. there are only a few seminarians in this country but they are also neglect from government support so they do other means to support themselves. this is one of them, benefit to reach the youth in terms of getting to know the christian and beneficial to the charities and seminarians.
the purely helps the youth (while playing the game) to remind about god and his sacraments

I have not seen the game but I hope children begin to like it. It is difficult to make them like something which does not has violence in it.
