Friends, have you ever heard about email spoofing? Well email spoofing is nothing but spamming and creating fake emails. The 'I LOVE YOU' worm was an example of email spoofing. One can send anonomous emails to anyone. You can even send mails without having any email id or can use any email id like abc@abc.com. If anyone sends you an email without any sender's email, then its a spoofed email. Even i have my own php spoofing script through which i can send emails to anyone. If you want any demonstration, please pm me your email ids and i will send you anonomous emails. But please be aware that most of spoofed mails are worms.

You can certainly change all of the header fields which originate with your computer. You cannot, however, spoof any fields which are added once the mail has been sent. The IP address of the computer/network from which the mail was sent, for example, cannot be faked (though it may be a proxy address, very few spammers bother to use one) and it is possible to identify the machine and ISP used to send the mail. When reporting spam, the ISP supplying the Internet connection is legally responsible for spam and other illegal activities and, once one has identified the ISP, one should send a copy of the mail, including the full header to abuse@[ISP's domain]. They should take such reports seriously and investigate them, though it has to be said that one is very unlikely to get a response from ISPs in certain countries, which are very often the very places that spam is sent from!

hello owlwings, i am not misusing my knowledge, i am just sharing with you guys so that you can be awared about email spoofing. Because, earlier many terrorist activities have been done through email spoofing. Many mails have been sent to security personnals anonomously about the bomb blasts and those personnals were unable to trace that email. And listen, every hacker does not indulges in illegal activities. I am sorry if you took my tone of comment in a wrong way.
