The world's most successful film "Avatar" will return to screens worldwide from August 27th with an additional 8 minutes of unreleased content. This "Avatar: Special Edition" will be screened only in 3D and 3D IMAX and contains 8 minutes of totally new content including some new creatures and action scenes. Since screening on December 18th, 2009, "Avatar", the 230-million-dollar film, has overwhelmed global audiences with its breathtaking 3D effects and garnered a 2.7 billion US dollars box office. It has become the world's most financially successful movie.

Besides screening it again at selected theatres, the ensemble cast is prepared to shoot the second installment of the movie. If I'm not mistaken, they will start pre-production next year. I am not too excited on what the story plot line for this sequel, there might be new villains emerge from human race or maybe from the tribe itself who may not agree on Sam Worthington leadership, I hope James Cameron make better scenario and storyline. By the way, I am more estatic on Titanic which will be rereleased in 3D format in 2012. I watched this movie when I was 10 years old and really moved by the story. Although it has been repeated so many times in television, I always watch it again and again

Congratulations on the Avatar movie. I hope maybe there will be other great movies created by James Cameron. I hope maybe the extra movie and 3D footage will be added to the DVD and Blu Ray release of the movie. I enjoyed watching it in 3d at the movie Theaters.

I've read the Avatar script online, and there are some darker parts to the story that were not included in the original release,(or if they were even filmed,I don't know...Neytiri's Sister,T'Sutey after the battle..) It Should be interesting to see how many viewers will make the return to "Pandora" for this special edition..I'd heard before that the Movie had to step aside from its very successful cinema run to let other 3D productions (Like Alice in Wonderland) get their shot.As a fan,I was aware that this special edition was coming out back before the release of the "Vanilla" DVD,I just wasn't sure of the release date,so thanks for that! The Special Edition DVD(s) Box set (gotta be a "Making of" and features disc included with it!) is due for a pre Christmas release later on..

Sorry but I can't get excited over this, if it was a more substantial chunk of unseen footage, say an exra 20 minutes or more then yes I could be tempted to see it again. But for me just 8 more minutes won't be enough to get me back in the cinema again and I am sure I am not alone.

Oh, wow, I never heard about this, I will be sure to look out for this, but are they just including fottage that was edited out of the film, I think it would be difficult to actually shoot new material and then just add it onto the film...I didn't get the DVD, as you really need to see it at the cinema to get the full benefit of the experience, I'll probably nag my sister to go this time, she missed it last time as she could see what all the fuss was about! :)
