I am not discriminating them, or neither making fun at them. But for some people, majority of females, they can either shop at the mall for 5 hours, and looking different style of clothing and never get tired. What kind of life is that? Sometimes I simply don't understand them. Besides the money issue, they can burn their wallet easily, otherwise they have a rich daddy or family. It seems that they were into all these shopping spree without having a normal life. Help me out here, what is wrong with them? Do you think they should have a better life than shopping day by day at the stores and malls.

I think I can help you understand. I actually made a study on this for my thesis before. This shopping behavior is actually called "Oniomania" it is a compulsion to buy or acquire things. Some people just love shopping but to some extent it can be considered an addiction. When this behavior actually affect their way of living or their social behavior then it can be considered as oniomania. When their credit bills are too much that they may actually be bankrupt and their compulsion to buy cannot be controlled then intervention may be needed. It is comparable to drinking. Drinking is a social act and almost everyone do it but when it goes out of hand then it is called an addiction and help may be required. As most dost addiction, there is an underlying cause to this behavior. For oniiomaniacs common causes are lack of self confidence or inability to take control of their lives and it is through shopping that they feel confident or feel that they have control by acquiring things that they like no matter what the cost.

i dont think it is about people that spend all their time in the mall but i think it has to do more with the people that spend all their money and even money they dont have on things that they dont need.

It depends on the reasons they are shopping. For some people it is a disease, they do break the bank and they do it for a rush. Others are just simply picky and take hours to pick out just one outfit. And in other cases women shop to be social, to get out of the house and do something. We love to shop in pairs. I myself don't have a rich daddy or otherwise, so my shopping stays limited. But different people find different things therapeutic.
