How are you handling this heat wave, hot weather??? I have a little house and no air conditioner. It is super hot in here, but i have all the windows open, doors open (that have screens) and 2 fans going in the same room where my whole family is bunched together. So tell me, how are you handling staying cool???

You must be having a pretty horrid time without the ac. I know how you feel in this heat without an ac. Drink plenty of water to beat the heat. If you keep ice in a dish it will help you to keep the room cool.

I spend a lot of time up the street in a nicely air conditioned coffee shoo. I take my work up there for a few hours a day, and forget all about the heat.

You are very lucky you have a place where you can do that so closely to your home.

Hi Amanda, here, the weather during sunny day is more scorching compared to that earlier. I live in a small single story bungalow as well. Though we have air con in the bedroom I try not to get it switched on if I still could tolerate the environment with fans turned on and get all the windows opened widely even during night time. All the windows are fixed with mosquitoes net to prevent mosquitoes as well as other disgusting insect to fly in I believe the plants in the surrounding would help to reduce the heat. Thus I always water them with sufficient water twice a day. Last Saturday my old colleague and his daughter in law visiting us in the afternoon. We had a pleasant chat under the shed. She envied us to have few big trees and grassy lawn in the compound. She complained that no wonder my place was not that hot as hers. Besides, we have four ventilation fans on the top of the roof as well. These devices help to circulate the air automatically if the indoor air is hotter. This keeps the indoor environment always with fresh air Happy posting

I am really glad that I have an air conditioner every day that I see the hot scorching temperature outside. However, let's take the air conditioner out of the equation for a minute. There was a time of course, where I had to survive without one. I think that the main thing to do to survive would be fans on. Especially a window fan, put in reverse, can draw the hot air out of the house. Also, sitting underneath the ceiling fan is good. I also have a small hose in my kitchen sink that I can spray my face with cold water. That can feel rather refreshing during those other weather. Of course, dumping ice water over your head after it has been in the freezer can feel pretty good. Drinking the water is also something you cannot go wrong. I think without an air conditioner, you really have to be creative when it slips to the nineties and beyond.
