Spain has banned models who are unhealthly thin, based on a body mass index scale. Do you think this a good thing or is it discrimination? Why?

I don't think that they should be banned. But I do think that they should have models of all shapes & sizes. because @ 105 pounds a model who is 5'11" is extemely thin. But then again a model @ 99 pounds & 5'0" is just petite, not anorexic looking. But it seems that the trend lately is for tall anorexic models. It is so unhealthy & can affect their looks. For example, once your BMI gets too low you can start to grow lango (sp?), a fine white hair that babies have covering their body before they are born to protect their skin. Why? Because you have too little fat to keep up your body heat. I think it's a good idea if it's because they models are forcing themselves to be that thin, but also discrimination to those who are naturally very thin.

I think it's great. They look so sickly when they're too thin. I think we need to have more "average" models over here. Or at least just not so sickly thin.

I think its an excellent idea. Models are meant to be shapes to aspire to, and almost nobody can be that shape and be healthy. Far better to be glowing with health and have some natural curves, and feel good about yourself.

well i live in america, and i would love to see more 'average' models out there. i agree women who are too skinny where their health is probaly effected shouldn't be seen as models. especially if you do things like purge or refese to eat. you should display your clothes and fanshion on models who look more like the general public. i'm not saying support everyone whos over weight, but little girls have enough to deal with. everyone like these skinny models. so they do whatever it takes to look like that, and sometimes it can be dangerous. if models are unhealthy, then they sholdn't model.
