Have you thanked a soldier lately?

When my son served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the families in my community formed a yellow ribbon support group. We literally plastered the town with yellow ribbons to welcome our guys home. We put them up, and someone tore them down. We had no idea what was going on. Then we found out. It was some Vienam vets who were doing it. We invited them to one of our meetings and found out how resentful they were that they weren't welcomed home at all. In fact, they were called names and disrespected. By including them in our group, they finally had an outlet for their feelings, and that was aa very good thing. My point is, any person who was ever in the military deserves to be thanked for fighting for our country and freedom. Now, when a see a person in uniform, I will take the time to speak to them and thank them for preserving my freedom. Believe me, they really appreciate it. Have you thanked a military person lately?

I would only thank a soldier if they'd fought for my or my relatives' peace. I don't believe there is a point in thanking people for their job in general.
