Older and Younger

When I was younger I was always confused about someone older complained to me about how us younger people behave. Now that I'm older, I can understand why they complained to me of things that I did not do. Yes, there are those who behave in the stereotypical way, totally disrespectful of everyone not in their particular clique, loud and obnoxious. But how often do we pay attention to a younger person who is well-behaved? If they are doing what is correct public behavior, do we pay as much attention? I am humbled to see I am as guilty as the older people in my past, when I pay more attention to the media than to the individual in front of me. Hopefully eventually I will learn to behave correctly as well.

I have been guilty of this behavior also. I have started making an effort to compliment either the child or the parent when I see a well behaved kid. I always tell my son's parents how well behaved their children are when they come to visit. I also do this with strangers in public. If I have to correct my son or point out some negative behavior, I try to find a positive to point out also. Considering he's a teenager, this can be kind of challenging at times. :)

Wow. I don't even notice anyone younger than 15. Kids will do whatever around me and i could care less. I was one of those well behaved kids so I never got that " These kids today..." speeches.and now that I don't have to take care of any kids I don't notice them at all.
