Do You Ever Get Confused When Familliar Actors Play Different Roles?

My husband and I decided to watch "Hot In Cleveland," tonight. We'd never seen the show before, and wanted to see what it was all about.
All I could think about was the fact that Jane Leeves (Frasier's Daphne) and Wendie Malick (Ronnie, from Frasier, who married Frasier's Dad Martin in the last episode) were there, playing totally different parts. Both Leeves, and Malick (I think that's how you spell her last name) have extremely distinctive voices, as does Betty White (Rose from Golden Girls), also on the show. It was really really odd, seeing these three women in totally different roles than I'm used to.
Anyone else feel this way, when they recognize an actor "out of context?"
And I miss the crap out of Frasier!! That could have run another 11 seasons, or atleast a spin-off, called "Niles." LOL I'd love to see how Niles and Daphne raised their baby boy, David, and if they had more children.

Acting in different roles is the job of the actor is it not? Though we get ourselves involved in the movie or TV serial, in our inner self we know that they are not that character in reality. Now a Tamil movie is released recently named Ravan. It is released in three languages. In one language Aiswarya Rai, former Miss World is the wife of her own husband in real life Abhishek Bachan, in another language of the same movie, she is the wife of another Hero, as the director changed the roles of the two actors Vikram and Abhishek in different languages as per the language in which they are famous respectively. Everyone knows about it. You imagine the actor in that particular role and watch the movie or TV serial, that is it.

There is one more thing in practice. In a long running serials, sometimes due to some reason the actor may stop acting in that serial. If possible the director will end that characte in that serial. If not, they will make another actor act in the same role and make an announcement on the first day of his coming into the serial. Same character but different person acting, that will look odd for sometime but then we will get used to it.

I have that problem with Jennifer Aniston. Every single movie role she does, it seems like she's just Rachel with a different name and a different leading man. The thing about Betty White to me, is that although when I see her, I think of Rose on The Golden Girls, she made every single role different. Sue Ann, the role she played on Mary Tyler Moore, was nothing like Rose on The Golden Girls. Rose, was a character so unlike the one she played in the movie The Proposal. I've never seen an actress go so totally different, convincingly. I was always impressed by that. I mean, who could have made the character of Rose so believable? Couldn't stand her as Sue Ann, but loved her as Rose.

I don't.
It's nice to see actors do different things and play different roles, I recently responded to a discussion about comedians who do serious roles and I don't really find it all that confusing. It's pretty cool to see a actor take on a very different role, I personally feel it makes us appreciate their acting abilities more.

Like when little Joe Cartwright showed up on Little House on the Prairie? I'm sure there are better examples though. And I can't think of a single one right this second, but I know I have been taken aback when somebody who played a good character, showed up in the next show as a villain, and vice versa.

Martin got married? Niles and Daphne had a boy??
Obviously, I stopped watching before the show ran its course.
But you can still hear "Niles" narrating those IKEA commercials...
