What does Twitter means to you?

I am registered user of Twitter, but I do use It probably, because I do not have analyzed why It is created and how work with It, but I be happy If I know how to work with It and why It is created. I think It something like follower programs you can follow to people, stars and then read newest news about them something like this. For now Twitter do not mean anything for me. I use Twitter for business and I have found that I get a few visitors here and there to my sites from my Twitter account. I don't have to go on Twitter to "tweet" though because I have my Facebook and Yahoo Answer accounts linked to Twitter. So whenever I answer a question on Yahoo Answers, it automatically posts to my Facebook wall. Then anything I post on Facebook automatically gets posted on Twitter. I really only go to Twitter if someone Follows me, then I see what their website or profile is like and if it's in my industry, I'll Follow them back. So I find it's useful for getting some traffic to my business but I don't go and stay on the site "tweeting" everything or I'd feel more like a "twit" wasting my time. I don't use twitter. But I guess one way to utilize it in a useful manner is to broadcast important announcements. I'm not really sure how it can be more useful than radio or TV but I guess it's one way others can use to broadcast important announcements or warnings.

Twitter might mean wether "to speak rapidly/quickly" or "a series of short and high sounds that birds" Maybe they named that twitter because they can get the message across in a rapid way(the first meaning)as most of the videos running there are informative 'n important ones
