Do you give up your seat for the pregnant and elderly?

July 13, 2010 6:51am CST
When I was pregnant I was amazed at how many people gave their seats up for me when I was out on day trips. I thought it was so kind of them though also felt funny especially when a man who must have been in his 70's gave me his seat and wouldnt take no for an answer! If there are no seats around I have always offered my seat to someone who is heavily pregnant or someone who is older in years. Do you? What do you think about this subject?

Oh yes, I do!!! And I am sure there is enough humanity left in the society to do so... There are many who will immediately offer their seat to a pregnant lady or an elderly person in a crowded bus.. I have done it many times... And will continue to remain so...

Yes, I also give my seat to those who are heavily pregnant or really older than me. I find it really respectful and nice to give them my seat most especially when the train we're in is really crowded. I think there are really a lot of people who do this. It's a nice gesture which brings happiness to the person being given a seat and to the one who gave up a seat. :)

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think it is our duty and reponsibility to give up our seats to the pregnant and elderly. When I am on a bus, when i see the pregnant and elderly, I will usually just stand up and give my seat to him or her. Just wish that if my mother was on a bus, there may be someone else can give up his seat to her. Have a nice day!

I would definitely give up my seat for elderly people or pregnant women, or someone on crutches, etc. I never once had anyone offer me their seat when I was pregnant with either one of my daughters. It amazes me when people won't even hold the door for us when they see me struggling with a baby and a toddler!

without any hesitations, i will certainly give my seat for a pregnant or elderly person. There was even a time when I was on a bus, I saw an elderly standing. On my great dismay, no one offered her a seat even men. So I decided to give my seat since my knees are far stronger than hers. How I wish, there are still gentlemen out there who are willing to offer their seats not just for pregnant women but also for the elderly.

Depend upon situation. If I in good condition, I don't carry heavy stuff and everything. Why not? Sometime it's fell good when do good things to other,I will give up my seat to anyone in need even though is not a pregnant or elderly it's good deed may I considered, Isn't? GOD BLESS!!

I do give up my seat to the elderly and to pregnant women. This is something that will give you great satisfaction because you know you have helped someone. I remember when I was a young boy scout and this was something that was expected of us. I guess all those lessons of how to be a good boy scout in this regard had paid off.

I applaud you Elfbwillow, there are not many people today that would continue to show respect as you do. I try to follow that rule whenever I'm riding public transportation. Treat people the way you want to be treated or hope to be treated when you are older.

Yes I do. But i look around first who will give their seat first, especially to the boys. If no gentlemen around then thats the time I offer my seat to them. Sometimes I am sorrounded by girls, if this happen I vollunteer my seat first. The reason I am doing this, because I know someday I will be preggy or I get old and I want other people to do the same thing to me. There is saying " Do to others you want to do to you".

yes of course, besides its not easy to get pregnant and be old, and since im strong and have more capacity to stand then why not besides someday i can also be on their situation, too bad coz a lot of guys dont do that right now as long as they think they are comfortable sitting and they dont care if those pregnant and old people standing. what a pity to think.

I would if i was on a sub or bus and there was no other seats. But im sure some one would give up there seat first lol. But if no one did I would most likely give up mine since she would need it a lot more and its not good to stand up on a subway being pregnant at least thats what im guessing. They should have special seats so no one can take them but pregnant women or elderly like they have parking for handicap.

Yes, I always give up my seat for the pregnant and the elderly although a lot of the time people don't accept it. It really bothers me when elderly people have to stand around while young people sit.

Yes I always give my seat for a pregnant or elderly people. I don't know but even-though I try to seat thinking I will ignore them I cant. I think this is a human nature. Anybody who is gentle will leave their seats for a pregnant or elderly person.
