Me personally, I avoid mainstream because they are becoming flat, by flat I mean they are becoming pretty much alike to each other. I listen to older music like slow rock, disco, old school rap,80's music, sometimes indie, I also like songs that are not famous but catchy. I'm a 90's kid. Do you like Justin Bieber?

I don't really avoid any certain types of music... Country isn't my favorite, so i don't go around looking for country songs but if I hear a country song I like, I'll download it. I don't like Justin Bieber. I think he's a good example of a clever marketing strategy though. He young, cute, seems so innocent, and he's a decent singer, so young girls will obviously go crazy over him!! I like all different types of music but tend to lean more towards rap, and anything thats catchy. Who could resist a catchy song? I like music that is written by the artist because it means more, I don't like to hear people who are singing other people's lyrics when they can't necessarily relate to what they're singing at all. Example.. Justin Bieber

There are some great songs about these days... but I know what you mean. I was born in the 80's and I grew up listening to songs from the 80's and 90's, so for me this was the best times for music, and I still today collect CD's and listen to music from that time. I have heard of Justin Beiber, but I am not sure that I have heard his music as yet, because I am always listening to my CD's, rather than the radio, which is the normal place for me to hear of these new songs or artists.
