want to find my origins

i am from mauritius and from what i have learned my ancestor came from india i would like to know if i have cousins in india or other families.
my surname is chowrimootoo and from wat i know there is an avenue in india named chowrimootoo
if anyone here can find out and help me i will be grateful.

I'm in agreement with th earlier comment.Please register on facebook or orkut and see if there any there by your surname.I accept your view that there could be lane named after your surname but please tell us in which city/town or state in India it is.It will make it easier to search.

well i am on facebook and did some search and found some poeple with same surnames but none are from india well they imigrate to other countries when they were young i guess and dont even care about their origins , so they did not help me much.
for the place in india i think its tamil nadu.

Wow! what an adventure thing....well we all have advance innovations such as computer and internet which is useful in searching something. Try people string site. I hope you can find them, it's nice to know your cousins. Me too, I'm planning to meet them soon .

well i think talking to your parents about it is a start. then expand your search.

Also you can do a search with your sir name and there may be lots of high lights with the same name. If you find interesting, check with the same with your exclusive details like state, district etc. and if you have some traces, check with face book or orkut for more details. Or you can trace some one from same community and if contactable with them, you can exchange messages to trace them.

you can search any friend making community websites to check if there is any of your cousins in India.happy my lotting
