I have been reading and hearing about this oil spill in the gulf of New Mexico. But what exactly is BP? I was just getting confused. Is that a personnel, the owner of the oil company? Sorry, I tried googling it but I always end up at the wrong site. Thanks in advance for the reply. ^_^

The company used to be called British Petroleum but it is now a 'name' in its own right. It was in 2001 when the company changed and rather than the BP standing for British Petroleum the company adopted the saying "Beyond Petroleum" instead. It is now a multi national company and not British

It's British Petroleum who is the contractor in the oil rig just outside the coast of Lousiana.

BP is British Petroleum as many people have already said on here. http://www.bp.com No they have yet to stop the spill and they are in major financial down turn because of the negative PR they have right now. They are a major oil company. Also just some history they switched their name from British Petroleum to BP so that they could build themselves up as being a "better" oil company working for Green Tech well they just proven not to be and where just another company looking to make the most profit no matter the risk. And well the cost is going to be huge to this company because this will effect the whole world once it hits the Alantic Ocean.

British Petroleum. They are actually the contractors which were part of the whole oil spill problem.
