Rank my Interests !!!!!!

Hey I saw a new add option in my profile and it says Interest Ranking...I am showing in different levels for different interests...I also see rankings besides my posts and others but my rankings are not as good as others...My question is how I'm ranked for an interest and Is it possible to improve it? I guess my participation in a particular interest decides my ranking..is that true... Is it ranked for my own discussions or my responses on others....!! didn't find it on FAQ section..Please help me to understand..thanks
