Iconic moment for the World Cup

The most iconic moment of the World Cup is De Jong's crude tackle on Alonso. For me, that it picture of World Cup 2010. Similarly to Zidane's headbutt on Materazzi in WC2006. So whenever I see both of the pictures, it will remind me of WC2006 and WC2010.

Yes, I agree with you that even for me that was the iconic moment of the World Cup. That stamp of De Jong on Alonso was a stamp of this generation of the Dutch on the Total Football of their predecessors. Cryuff's generation brought in the beautiful Total Football which now has been adopted by Spain via the Barcelona roots of Cryuff. And that stamp of De Jong on the chest of Alonso, seemed to be such an ironic moment that showed how much the Dutch style has changed!!
