i was reading a passage of the bible which says that a little sleep and a little slumber, thus shall you poverty multiply, however science believes that a good sleep , most especially long hours of sleep will keep you healthy, how do we explain this?

The bible is referring to laziness of some people in work or in not proper sleeping habit or sleeping in wrong right time. Example if you sleep late at night and you wake late and you have appointments early in the morning do you think you will succeed in that appointment? Or taking a sleep or a nap in the middle of your job? And not all the passage in the bible are meant literally most of them are figurative and symbolic.

I think they are referring to that if you are lazy then you will get nothing done. Sleep is good. Remember everything has to be balanced in life. If you want to get a job you have to hit the pavement and apply for work. Have you ever met people who say they need to do this and that but won't do it? I have friends who would like to go back to school but don't make the iniative to apply, test, see a counselor or wait in line!
