One of my friend told me that he gets neck pain when he wears helmet while riding. Why it is so?. If' the rules of the road is followed by everyone then certainly there is no need to wear helmet.I, personally hate to wear Helmet, because it is an additional wait to carry and also hearing is effected while wearing helmet. What is reason for neck pain? views from mylotters

A lot of factors could play a role in the pain that your friend has been experiencing, in fact, it may not be from the helmet itself. But taking the scenario by hand, let's take the helmet as the culprit here. Let's take the helmet factor first, the weight of the helmet varies (the lighter the better but don't compromise safety by that), another is if the helmet is snugly fit for your friend (which means not too tight and not too lose), inside padding is another one also and the time duration your friend wears it. Last but not the least, let your friend see a doctor for it might not be the helmet that causes the pain, just to make sure and rule it out.

I shall pass the message to my friend. Of-course, I have advised him to consult a doctor. However helmet is a hazard, I do not like to wear helmet.

Helmet is a hazard? I don't think so venkatachary, that I have to disagree. Hear this out, "If you think safety is expensive.. try injury". You wouldn't appreciate it's use until the time you experience something that the helmet helps you from any injury. Until then we are in opposing side with this one. You don't like to wear it because it's your preference but it is not a hazard at all.

maybe its too heavy or not a right fit. i have seen some helmets that weight too much. And have seen some helmets that dont fit quite right. Thats why i test them first before i buy them.
