lol. This is the famous Ai-ai Delas Alas dialogue! ^.^ You certainly got a point there, humans are not created perfect by God, we are so called humans because of our imperfection. But as Humans we have goals in life that we want to achieve, these are goals that requires skills and knowledge and to get these skills and knowledge we then have to study and thus we practice. Practicing just means that we do our best to achieve perfection but not being perfect as a human at all. ^.^

I have the same question in mind as yours. I would tolerate "practice makes perfect" but with some elaboration or interpretation such as: "practice improves our ability/talent" or "practice sharpens our intelligence." But I don't know whether you could agree with me or not. Thanks for posting this question.

Maricris, that is a bit inaccurate. The humans are not perfect is one maxim. Practice makes perfect is another maxim. The first one refers to the nature of humans per se. The second one refers to man's ability to perfect something by practicing his passion. Example, it is possible to play Beethoven's symphony according to how Beethoven composed it. A pianist could achieve that perfect playing by practicing passionately. I know I went out of my way explaining even if I know very well you are teasing. That only means one thing. I know you could be a serious writer with sound and valid ideas.

It's precisely the reason why we have to practise more. It's simply because we are not perfect. Thus practice makes perfect.

Nobody's perfect in all aspect o him. Practice makes perfect in an aspect. If we want to be perfect in a thing like a skill, we practice to perfect it but we cannot be perfect in everything cause we can still commit mistakes.

Nothing will ever be perfect. It's just an expression. You're not going to be ANY good at something if you never practice it. So yes, while you won't be perfect from practice you could range from good to great to even amazing at whatever it is that you're going to practice. I mean, it's like saying that humans aren't perfect so why even bother living if we can't achieve perfection. Life isn't about being perfect. But we should still try.

hahaha! but practice can give you a an almost perfect to a perfect score/grade or performance. Especially at children. They tend to be really focus whenever they really like what they have been practicing. We are not perfect, But maybe we can perfect something that we have been practicing a lot. thanks maricrism.

Practice makes perfect! Well, not exactly. But it is a catchy little saying. You're right, humans aren't perfect nor can they be. But, practice helps you to do your best. So, maybe it should be 'Practice makes you do your best.' But that's not as catchy.

One will never be perfect in every aspect of life as a human. The thing is we can gain knowledge to improve on what we do know to become a better person. Practicing helps one to improve on the abilities we possess. If you don't try and make yourself better than you will be stuck where you are as those around you grow and learn to become all they can be, being human. Do you want to be left behind?

I accept your saying that humans aren't perfect. But because we aren't perfect if we stop practicing we'll go downhill faster. Its only when we realise our faults and try and overcome them that we improve. We may never be perfect but we shall definitely be better than before with practice.

I guess the person that came up with "practice makes perfect" was probably talking about themselves and didn't want to admit they had any inperfections.

Hehehe... of course we are not perfect, but in terms of skills we can make everything close to perfect if we devote time and effort to utilizing and practicing it. You know, by practicing constantly we can beat our competitors, we can even get all the projects we like if we have practiced enough and become really good. We are not perfect because we all commit mistakes, we grow old and die... but we have the chance to make something perfect, and that's our talents or skills.

surely practice can make person perfect. no humans are perfect. but as you do the same thing more and more time, then your skill on the particular format will increase each and every time. just as we type more and more on keyboard our typing acurracy and speed increases. so practice is always good so go and take practice.
