I need help with my dog. He is a Japanese Spitz breed. It's my first time to take care of a dog like him. Once, we brought him with us in the car to the market. Although my brother and the dog were left in the car while shopping so that they can guard the car. I didn't know dogs also experience motion sickness. When our dog got home, he vomited a lot. And he refuses to eat anything. Can anybody help me?

You were lucky he vomited at home. Try to imagine how it would have been if he had vomited in the car! Some dogs get car sick if they are not used to riding the car. If our dog is like that, you should expose him slowly to riding the car. Take small steps until he doesn't get sick (like just sitting in the car with engine off, sitting in the car with engine on, short ride, and so on). If he is crate-trained, you could crate him during the car ride, he will feel more confortable in the crate and he will be less stressed. It is not a good ideea to take him for a ride after he ate. You can ask your vet about what medicines you should give him. Oh, and don't worry if he doesn't eat after he vomited. He will eat as soon as he feels well.

Yeah..lucky me. It was my mistake for bringing him without thinking that he'd get car sick. It was the first time we rode him on a car. I should have made it gradual. Anyway, I learned my lesson. Good thing he has recovered and is eating properly again. Thank you for your suggestions! I might try the crate thing next time.

Hello maybe your dog just got dizzy, this happens when your dog is full. It's not advisable to bring a dog for a travel when it's stomach is full. Just give your dog Tagamet tablet so that the vomiting will stop.I used that tablet when my dog had stomach disturbances my vet is the one who gave that also.

Tagamet? Is it sold over-the-counter in pharmacies? There's no pet shop near our neighborhood. Just a 24-hour pharmacy. It was the first time that I bought my dog out. He is only 4 months old. It didn't occur to me that they also become dizzy. Maybe his stomach was full. We left early in the morning after breakfast and I think he was really full.
