With the increasing cost of medicines, the people are already resorting to alternative medicine to alleviate their ailments.. unfortunately, in our country, the cost of herbal supplements are prohibitive also and surprisingly more expensive than the traditional doctor's medicines.

I think it is more safe to take and eat natural foods. Food supplement aren't safe because there were chemicals added to them, usually preservatives, that destroys our cells and give additional risk factors that's why we are prone to more diseases. Just imagine, before there were no technology, there were no preservatives and additives that was discovered, our ancestors can live up to 100 years of age. Meaning all the food that we eat, processed foods, junk foods, foods in all different fast foods, etc., destroys our body and produce toxins that destroys our cells. That is why natural foods like fruits, vegetables, meat (that were not processed and was properly cook), and fish are really good for our health, and food supplements are dangerous to our health.

I would trust them if it was prescribed to me by a professional I trusted, but I am more into looking at diet and nutrition than supplements. I believe that virtually everything can be treated with diet. There are not many people who eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and there is way too much meat eating and dairy consuming going on. I think instead of listening to the meat industry telling us to eat this stuff we should do some research and look into what diet is best for our bodies. I hate taking antibiotics and I think that herbal supplements are just another money-making racket, even though they may be beneficial.

Not all. I have tried one that was really effective but it was way too expensive. It's still business in the first place! And they are not under a certain governing body that controls their prices.

The reason why food supplements are often priced higher than the traditional doctor-prescribed medicines is, the demand for food supplements now shoots up while the supply is very limited. The raw materials for the production of these food supplements is very limited. Let's say for example, before you can accumulate a capsule of Grape Seed Oil extract, guess how many or how much is the volume of Grape Seeds to chew? But I believe in the power of food supplements, especially in treating chronic illnesses. Chronic illnesses are classified as ailments that you suffer for a very long time and keep on coming back to you, keep on recurring. It is the opposite of acute, which is characterized by sudden massive onset of the disease. If you suffer from acute health problem, food supplements may help, but you have to deal with it massively with doctors-prescribed medicines. You may also take massive dosage of food supplements to help in the prophylaxis treatment of the disease. Food supplements are intended just to help doctor-prescribed medicines. Don't take them alone. We call this, "adjunct therapy".

I used to take a lot of vitamins and minerals as food supplements until I read a scientific magazine article that said that our body did not process them. The only way we can be sure that we are well nourished is by taking them in our food. So it is veggies, legumes and other not expensive supplements what is good for our health. I´m for that now, unless I´m sick and a doctor thinks I need a special supplement for my ailment.

I make my parents take some of these herbal supplements. They have arthritis so there are some vegetables that they cannot eat. They also take maintainance medicines so I make them take supplements to help liver function.

traditional or alternative medicine can be taken but it should be kept in mind that cure from ailment is not fast. usually, alternative medicine should be taken in long course compared to the laboratory medicine. For me, as much as possible, i try natural medicine unless it's really serious ailments.

Unless your old then no. Why would you take that stuff when you have food to eat. People these days don't care about health. Look at people who live to 100, they eat good. Suplements are for people that already have health problems.
